I don'ty seem to be able to get my vote into the poll :(

I I love Stevo's choise for Orange because:
1. It is the Dutch National color (but then he should paint our majesty's Royal Lion on the backside of the car :D )
Image

and fix an orange tail to it as well like this one :-D

2. Its is nest best to the Mustard Yellow

Yes, orange would have been my choice too, and I really don't see why Stevo didn't go down this route:

He says, in jest and somewhat controversially.

Well then, just make sure you only go to the Rangers games, not Celtic, then you'll be okay :-D :-D

question where are the grilles from? you're right though - no going back now. I'll be really interested in how this project develops, good luck with it.

the grills are from a post facelift subaru impreza turbo uk. given the pattern that my laquer had started to peel off the bonnet i think that its heat build up thats be doing it. so to reduce under bonnet temp im fitting these second hand scooby vents off ebay :-D . they have the same curve formed in them as an elan bonnet and once they are smoothed in i think they will work well.
that and im getting a hold of some heat matt stuff of a guy who laggs pipes in factorys, it's about 10mm thick foil backed insulation gear that im going to glue to the underside of the bonnet. this should reflect the heat away from my new paint. 8)

you'll see

.......and reflect it back into the engine that is trying to lose the heat!

Will this overstress the engine cooling system? :?

Just a thought! :)

Day 2 got off to a shitty start when I had to drive across Glasgow to a shithole industrial estate to pick up a parcel which I had missed the delivery of at home, only to find that the parcel was due to be redelivered today - wasted journey. All other road users are twats and won't get out the way when I'm driving in a bad mood.

Anyhoo, I bought a new airline for the compressor and a couple of odds and ends and got started on sanding the panels I have removed. I've started to blend in the bonnet vents. Sand, fill, repeat..........

when it rains will the grilles have some sort of channel to safely get rid of the water or will it be additional cooling

well I have a gaping hole in the bonnet of my Evo 8 and it is no problem with rain. Granted the Elan can be more fickle with the electronics though.

Stevo, seems your bonnet is taking on the face of some nautical creature like a manatee or such . . .
