I'm starting to feel a bit 'picked on' here - what with this one, TrueBlue's thread where Old Bill was getting slated, and the odd bit from JT :cry:

Please don't assume ACAB, some of us DO care enough to do things (even on a tea break :wink:

), but are often frustrated by the 'policy' given from above.

On a personal level, I often go 'the extra mile' to try and help, but I agree that not everyone does (That might be why I've got medals and commendations, and they haven't!) - 25 years ago the reason i joined up was to be better than my brother who had been turned down - but i actually enjoy helping people :oops:

Dave,

I realise that there are some well intentioned (and probably good at their jobs) coppers, an uncle of mine was a DCI and I'm pretty sure like you he would have gone the extra mile.

However I do believe that the majority are now in it for the paycheck seeing the police as a job and not because they want to hold that office/uphold the law or any other romantic imagery.

I have had enough dealings with the police, both as a complainant and on the receiving end, that I know reporting any sort of crime, unless its a headline generator, is a waste of time. There is just nobody interested in pursuing what appears to be petty offences or near misses (which would have been a lot more serious).

It was rumoured Dico had a pretty good blue elan at one time, someone even said they had seen him driving one, but alas we're beginning to think it was just a nasty rumour, as no elan has been seen for nearly 2 yrs now !

But he is right, he's worth the entertainment value :-D
