Good, Bad, and Good news.

Good news is the alternators are all in stock
Bad news is three of them have the wrong pulley (V-shaped track not straight) - who want's these ones?
Good news, the guy is going to swap the pulleys on the three alternators next week and they should be ready for collection next Saturday

Oh, oh .... alarm bells ringing. This was exactly the same problem I had with a re-con NipponDenso from Jap spare parts (Witney Autoquip) I think others have had this problem as well ?

It's stating the very obvious really, but make sure that the correct pulley is attached when you receive your alternators as I'm sure they will stay in their boxes until you need them - along with all the other bits and pieces you have bought "just in case"

I now have a kitchen table full of Light Motor Refurb kits and Alternators

I'll post up more details in the next few days, aiming to start moving these by the end of the week.

(BIG) Thanks to Muley and PaulWatkins most of the alternators and light motor bushes are now en-route.

Muley will deliver to the H&C
Gazza will deliver to Russc
Dave Eds will deliver to the East Mids meet (including Monty, Dico & Woody).
Paul Watkins will deliver to Bollecks and Dicovery (at Oulton)

Please not that the final payments on the parts are:

£1.50 per light motor kit
£5 per alternator

Paul.P is the exception and has £7.50 outstanding

Please pass the final instalments to the designated distributor on collection.

Quick question, you said some had pulleys with v-shaped track not straight, from this picture what exactly do you mean.

Might be a good reference for future buyers.

It's the bit the belt goes around, where ours are the straight grooves, the 3 odd ones had pulleys with a v-shaped "tread". Those 3 had the correct pulleys fitted before I collected them, so they are all the same.

Rest assured that the alternator internals are the same, just the pulleys were different.

Must be that some other car that uses the same alternator uses a belt with a v-tread.

Cheers for clearing that up, so it's basically the teeth on the inside of our belts are square shaped, compared to the wrong v-shaped pulleys that were exchanged on some.

That's sort of my understanding, where our belts have a profile of |||, the pulleys that were swapped had V (which would seem to me to be a better design but I know nothing).

I'll take a look at my Impulse when I get home this afternoon. It has the same engine/transmission, and used the same alternator. I thought it also used the same belts, but I guess I need to look at the grooves on the pulleys. I'm pretty sure it uses "V" belts.
