Sat Nav is saying 3 hours & 168miles to the campsite from mine and thats the quickest route
so they`ll be no scenic route for me

yeah D's coming. cooking BBQ style would be good perhaps on the sunday? out to pub on the saturday? as always will play it by ear. camping is so weather dependant. The campsite will cook a breakfast for you if you want. Thinking about asking D to drive up in her car as well so we can bring more kit up but i'll have to wait for the right moment to ask.

Are you still keen to go camping Monty? I'm still up for it, just good to get away. Haven't heard anything from Al so don't know how he feels.

Ooops, been away on a bit of a road trip to Berlin so I missed this lot !

Er, tbh I haven't really given it too much thought yet, maps says it's 1:40 away for me, so factor in recovery mode from friday night, my aversion to getting up in the mornings and general saturday noodling around and I reckon turning up at the campsite late saturday avo sounds about right

long time no hear Al. Your post reminded me about insurance. i'm with classicline and they said i'm covered as its a LOT event usual 10% of value or £1000 excess (whichever is greatest) applies though but thats usual even if you have to supplement your premium.

D has agreed to drive the support vehicle so we'll have a bit of luxury, well as much as you can when you go camping.

Ok, not long to go. Not sure what time to set of on saturday don`t want to be hitting traffic Chris do u want to name a time for me to meet at the campsite so then we can find a spot to pitch our tents? and what time will the others get there?

Final instruction from LoT

1. ARRIVING AT THE CIRCUIT
You should arrive at the circuit in good time to complete three important steps. Before going on track you must sign on, attend a track briefing and check that your car is roadworthy.

You will be noise tested and directed to sign on upon arrival at the circuit – please observe the speed limits on all approach roads.

Sign on07:40-08.25 Complete a LoT and Circuit indemnity form – both drivers and passengers. Then complete the circuits indemnity form as directed.You will need to show your FULL driving license – both parts.At sign-on you will receive a coloured wristband to indicate that you are signed on.

Track briefing08:30 – 09:00 This briefing is mandatory for drivers and passengers. It explains the rules of your track day.
Self-Scrutineering Your car must be safe for you and others. Please check· brake and indicator lights· wheel tightness· seat belt operation (where fitted)· tyre tread patterns

Only drivers and passengers wearing the appropriate wristbands will be allowed on track.

2. ON TRACK
Your car and safety
Before going on track you must check your car for safety and roadworthiness – water, oil, battery connections, throttle return spring, brakes, tyres, wheel nuts, indicator lights are obvious items. Please remove all loose items from both cockpit and luggage areas.

Noise – Bedford has strict noise limits – These are measured in two ways:-
Static – 101db & Drive by at 20 meters – 87db (well worth putting a cat back in!)

Familiarisation laps
The first 30 minutes will be run with a strict NO OVERTAKING and 50 MPH / 80 KPH speed limit. This is your chance to familiarise yourself with the track layout and check the location of marshal posts and light gantries. You must not overtake unless it is an emergency.
Track driving rules
Fast driving on a racetrack is clearly safer and more enjoyable than driving on public roads. Nevertheless, there are risks if drivers don’t have the right attitude, ignore the advice of experienced instructors or flout the basic rules of circuit driving. The following rules apply to most circuits.

1. Drive clockwise and to the right – never reverse on the track or in the pit lane.
2. Overtake only on the left and in the straights – never in corners or in braking zones
3. Overtake only with the consent of the driver in front of you – wait for the driver to signal consent by using indicator lights or by waving. The driver being overtaken must lift off the throttle until the faster car is safely past.
4. Check mirrors carefully before moving off your line to overtake or corner.
5. Keep moving – never stop on the track, even if you see an incident.

It is mandatory for all drivers and passengers to wear a crash helmet
Signals using lights or flags
Track sessions are controlled by flags or lights supplemented by flags. You need to know the position of marshal posts, where flags may be waved, and of light gantries or posts.

Red light or waved red flag Session is stopped · reduce your speed significantly (check mirrors)· do not overtake· move to the left to allow rescue vehicles to pass· return to the pit lane and await further instructions.

Yellow light or waved yellow flag Danger ahead – an incident or a hazard · reduce speed (check mirrors)· do not overtake· be prepared to stop.

Yellow & red striped flag There is spillage on the track or a change in conditions making driving dangerous · reduce speed and use caution.

Blue flag A faster car is behind. · allow it to pass at the first safe opportunity.

Black flag A problem with your car (damage, fuel leak etc) or there is a need to discuss aspects of your driving · return to the pits and report to the marshals.

Chequered flag This is the end of the session · reduce speed (cool off your engine & brakes)· return to the pits at the end of your lap.

thanks for that monty, haven't received my instructions yet so i'll give it to friday to make sure everything is ok.

D and i will set off in 2 cars with a view to getting to the site for 3pm. if we're the first there we will pick out a spot away from others but as close to the amenitys/hedge as possible.

at the risk of changing the course of hurricane Dean, is everyone ok for a BBQ on Saturday evening? If so, probably a good idea to bring some grub down with you to save having to look for a s/market when we get there.

support vehicle nah D will be bringing the leon with all the normal camping gear plus gazebo, bbq, proper stand up in tent(as garage), table and chairs, wind breaks, 42" wide screen LCD tv, Fridge stocked with beer, central heating system and a teas maid. BTW our tent has 4 bedrooms, utility room, study and a selectively stocked library.

Now if the VX was the support vehicle, delete the above and add paper napkins (5 total)
