Gareth,
Correct.
There is a good reason for putting in "REMOVE" when posting an e-mail address on a public forum. It is to circumvent the b*****ds who set up programs to go around web sites picking up e-mail addresses (e-mail harvesting) so they can bombard everyone with spam.
It might be in your best interests to remove the second (valid) e-mail from your posting!

C'mon guys, here's a good opportunity to get those obsolete parts!

I'm with Don. I'd pay money for a Fed equivalent of the stiffy and some aluminum door handles and pulls to replace the plastic ones we have now (which would look good combined with carbon fibre door escustcheons).

uh, what else have you been asked to pay??
I agree: aluminum door handle pulls are on the list for my future Elan too . . .
that sounds like a simple Brian CNC project - - - - maybe start a thread seeking interest in it and see how many others you can drum up ? ? ?

Mine's on it's way from AB. Not sure if I'll have it fitted in time for Donington A) Im' no mechanic so it will need to be added by the garage and b) getting the car to them is slim currently.... but if I do, I'll let you all know.

Well, there was something about kidneys and right arm as payment for B-pillar caps. That was a while ago though when kidneys were in demand..........

I'll try, but it's probably because they want to sell the SS kits direct and the cables via Will.

Hi All,
I've just had an email from Preeya @ AB and she's working on the price.
Hopefully I'll be able to offer a 'package price' of the AB cables + shifter.
I'll let you know when I have more info

I need nore feedback on the cables and short shift installation. I tried Monty's gear change at Donny and i found it very stiff, not what i expected at all. he did say there was a problem in so far it didn't self centre. I would want the shift to be just a wrist movement rather than a shove with the whole of the upper body. Can this be achieved?
Also, any news on a bundle price yet Will?

Chris,
You can try mine at Brands this weekend and see what you think.
It's still a tiny bit stiff (ooer missus) which overcomes the centring springs a bit, but on the move you hardly notice.

Mine's not the AB one - it's one of the old Isuzu Performance ones that Rod fitted before I bought the car, so I can't take the credit.
Theory behind the mod is the same: halving the length of the arms on the selector box halves the throw of the gear lever.
But AB's implementation of the solution is far more elegant. Isuzu Performance just hacked down and re-welded the original arms.
AB has made a total replacement spindle which the arms are attached to, and even offered a selection of different throws.
It's what I would buy if I were doing it now.
The only downside is that if you halve the throw, then you double the effort. Ye canna escape the laws of physics!

Mine arrived on Friday morning, far too soon to get it installed for Donny

. So I've put it with my new AB cables, solid mounts and Dave's short shifter, for when I get a moment to fit them
Owwwww and the kit looks & feels much better in real life i.e it's nothing short of a work of art

Ok,
I have had the AB ShortShift fitted today (middle position) and along with their cables which I have had fitted for a while, the reduction is great, but still as easy as ever - no extra effort. The Shift from 2nd to 3rd is definately going to make the difference on the track. Certaibly the feeling is that of much less time with the clutch disengaged.
I certainly approve of this option. The only one I have tried was Neil's (Enright) and no offence to him but that was a lot of hard work!

None taken - you're right it was at the time - it even fatigued and broke the gear lever mounting bracket.
It's freed up a lot more since, and I'd like to compare it to someone else's whose had it properly fitted.
But I still get a very annoying/embarrassing problem of it jumping out of reverse every few seconds, especially if I'm reversing uphill.
