Front bumper alignment adjustment

Hi,

Is it possible to adjust the alignment of the front bumper of my Elan? The gap between the front bumper and the front of the car is a but uneven (as photo), and if I could make it flush all the way along, I think it would improve the look of my car no end.

I have looked in the manual, but I can only find how to adjust the alignment of the ends of the bumper, not the main front section of the bumper.

The front bumper is held by two bolts each side to brackets on the end of the chassis legs. The holes are elongated for adjustment. The top bolts are just reachable by lifting the bonnet and the headlights (by hand) and can just be turned by a fine rachet. The lower ones can be reached from underneath.

My PECO exhaust rubs against it on the left side.

Probably fiddly due to the washers. See Service Manual BK9 page 20. Some one who has actually done will be along soon.

I tried to adjust my front bumper at the weekend, but didnt manage to make much difference.

I think that the topshell must be out of alignment not the bumper.

Is this easy to adjust? - could it have come from the factory out of alignment (am i expecting too much?)

There ARE a handful of owners who have redone their cars and they can likely give some more aligning tips . . .

Smokey, there were some poor panel gaps that came out of the factory, but looking at your picture that seems to big of a gap (even for Lotus).

Steve, its the exhaust that needs adjusting not the bumper. A few folk have had this problem with the Peco.
