After 25 years the Callander Classics will be no more. Next year the event will be at Culzean Castle in Ayrshire. Here's a copy of an e-mail containing details:-

Hi,

Unfortunately because we were so busy during the recent Callander
Classic we didn't have time to chat with all those clubs and owners
who joined us for the weekend. If you were present we hope you had an
enjoyable time and like ourselves lapped up the weather and fantastic
turn out. Thanks also to those who have kindly written to us
expressing words of appreciation. It was the 25th Anniversary of the
event and a great weekend but also sadly it will be the last time the
event will be held in Callander.

We have always tried to make the weekend both enjoyable and different
to most other events, with lots to do and see. That is why we have
had such great support from both Clubs and owners over the years.
Organising the weekend however takes a great deal of dedicated time,
investment and carries with it considerable risk. With costs ever
escalating each year and our income remaining the same now for many
years we needed a serious re think.

Callander is a nice place but we have received little or no local
support to help us progress our event and kept ahead of all the many
events that have appeared on the scene in recent years. Some have
even tried to copy our format but none have succeeded in this respect
but never the less arguably there are now far too many car events.

WE ARE ON THE MOVE to introduce a new style of event and one that
nothing similar has ever been staged in Scotland before. The
Callander Classic Weekend will be absorbed into an all new
international motoring heritage event The Culzean Autoclassica. It
will take place at Culzean Castle Ayrshire, a superb venue, on the
same weekend as the Callander Classic has been held for twenty five
years, the last full weekend in August and coinciding with the
English August Bank Holiday. Next year this will be the 23rd 24th
August. It will have a completely new image but will still retain our
traditional friendly atmosphere. All those of you who have been
coming to Doune and Callander are invited to attend "The Event for
Enthusiasts run by Enthusiasts".

Some of you will already be aware we are having a launch of the
Culzean Autoclassica on Sunday the 23rd September and some activities
also taking place on the Saturday. Club members and individual owners
are invited to attend and find out all about this new event and take
advantage of the special Guest Passes costing just £2 for car and
passengers.
You will need to enter using one of the forms attached for this.

If you haven't already entered we have held open the closing date and
if you are very quick you still have just enough time to enter. By
doing so you will automatically be registered on the list of invited
Clubs/guests for next year's major first Culzean Autoclassica.

Pencil these dates in your calender (no pun intended) for next year. As it's a bank holiday w/e maybe we'll see some familiar faces from Englandshire ? In the past we've had the Man Utd stars Dico and Monty and Stef, JimP, ESM etc..... plus the usual turnout of Jocks. Perhaps we could also make more of it by tagging on a few days after for staying at BigErch's hunting lodge, track day at Knockhill, touring some of the fantastic roads that Scotland has to offer etc...........

Anyway, early days yet, but a few ideas to chew on...........

You never know, Dico & I may plan a trip. I`d love to stay a bit longer and do Knock hill but we`ll have to see
