Having said that, on the Sunday round the island blatt Enners would have been more comfortable if he could have put another yard or two between us.

Unlikely.
My idea of tracking a car is to push right to the limit and beyond. My Elan is something I don't want to lose. So I am not sure I want to track my own car.

Hey Rip- the track is safe and nothing to hit at all- if you obey the rules- that is why its good to go there. Old airfield with plent of run off. You can just get over the ton when you have to slow down for the next corner. No overtaking on corners. There is only the "Miss Daisy" twins getting in the way.

You're not far wrong.
The two pessengers that I took round the track were both mightily impressed with my pace.
But to me there's a big difference between hooning around:
A) a track with lots of visibility and nice big wide run-off areas, and
B) narrow bumpy roads with blind corners, road furniture, unmarked Ford Focus ST's, slippery dead animals, manhole covers and oncoming traffic.
Having toasted both my tyres and my brakes I would rather not have to trust that just because the last person (possibly) made it round, that I would too.
6 Elans and their drivers all merged into 1 would have made more than just the local headlines, so I prefer to save my speed for where I feel comfortable and where I feel it's a little more appropriate.
That's not a criticism of anybody - it's just about my healthy respect for my own (and my car's) mortality, and my comfort zone.

Exactly mate agree with all that - and with 4 tires you'd have left me well behind. You took more out of your tires on track than I did, plus I started with more tread, and you were out there longer.

On the road I was able to out brake you ( cos I got brakes and they are new!), and I could hide behind you from oncoming cars ( especially Jaguars).

I guess the tip is that the cars need to be in top shape next time

How about a succinct explanation of why I should consider using up a load of my precious holidays, putting up with driving umpty-hundred miles on the crappy roads between Aberdeen and gawd-knows-where-you-get-the-ferry-to-the-Isle-of-Man, persuading my good lady wife to accompany me, and spending a small fortune into the bargain.

Do you have an agenda and cost estimate?

Ferry goes from Liverpool. 2008 European Culture Capital?!?!?
IOM has no speed limits outside of built up areas.
A good chance to get to know fellow LECers.
Costs? Ask the Scouse Blagger.

now is that per car/couple or per person????
I assume ferry @ £140 is per car and 2 persons
petrol is obviously per car
what about the hotel?......is it per room???

Hi Gareth I thought I was spelling it out. Figures open to 08 changes so these are what it cost us this year. Hopefully may be able to negotiate further discount on ferry and hotel if we have numbers but wont be able to do that just yet. Track day will not reduce further as it was dicounted for us by £15 anyway.
The hotel cost was for us single blokes who had supplement to pay.
I will post 08 prices as soon as I finish negotiating them.

I suppose PaulW and Larisas' final cost would give you the 'couples' rate

sometimes you have to pay for a passenger on the ferry
then bigger hotel bill.........

The hotel cost for me and Larisa was £180 for the three nights.

I spent £150 in petrol door to door round trip.

All other costs were as Dave ' the rolling roadblock' T above.
