Hi Dave

How about arranging for all the cars to meet at Lakenheath or Brize and we all fly with them? There has to be a few empty transports going in either direction?

I'm sure there will be lots of help required, we'll also need to get together at some point to discuss dates, plan expenditure, and arrange those who require a decree absolute to be sorted in advance- DaveEds. I'll also be requiring some replacement body parts as some will be removed if Amanda catches me.

Mtg at Donny 2008 sounds like a good idea.

but alas I don't think they'd buy it... Not even for Charity

I don't want to put the dampers on this too much guys, but in a conversation with Kimbers today, he mentioned that a friend of his has done the Cannonball a couple of times recently. Last time it cost him about £4500 to get his car shipped safely...so he left it there & sold it.

£ 520.00 + insurance for a Port to Port rate for a small sized vehicle.

Just so you know this is being worked on by several peeps. Costs vary tremendously. Lowest quote so far is just short of £300 each way but with few guarantees as to condition of car on arrival or in fact whether it would actually get there according to schedule. Highest quote so far just short of £1500 each way but with strong guarantees and gold standard care- air freight. A very reputable company has offerered £750 each way, NY in and LA out.
Compare those prices to passenger air fare I dont think they are unreasonable -for the trip of a lifetime.
Please dont panic or rule things out just yet- as Dave Eds said above there are some things in the pipeline, but you'll just have to wait till we sort it!!! It is not scheduled till 2010 and things like this are the reasons why!

I'm looking forward to this. I hope it all works out. It may be my only chance to meet many of you who have helped me tremendously already, and many more who I'm sure will in the next 2 1/2 years.

If my son stays on schedule, he'll be graduating from college in 2010. This trip could be a great opportunity for me to spend some quality time with him before he really leaves the nest for good, since I know there's no way my wife would sit in a car for that long.

If it does work out we hope to meet with and be joined by as many USA LEC members as possible for at least part of the journey. We also hope that any other USA Lotus owners will find out about this and join us or just wave us by in style.
