Quick update:

Spoke to the manufacturer today. They received the templates but won't have a chance to review them until week's end at which time he'll let me know if my tracing skills were good enough for him :roll:

I expect to hear back early next week as to whether he can start making them or not.

For those who wanted a smaller clutch and brake pedal I'm hoping to convince him to offer an M100 Elan "A" and "B" pedal set as I think I've seen him do for a handful of other cars they make product for. The "A" set would be an exact match for the pedals with the rubber cover on. The "B" set would have a smaller cluthc pedal cover equivalent in size to the pedal without the rubber cover on. The reason I think I may be able to get him to do this is that when I originally contacted him he said they had M100 covers already in stock. The diagram e-mailed me had them match only the pedals with the rubber covers off, not with them on. Apparently, these were for another model car that he was told would also fit the Elan. So, he's already got smaller pedal covers that match the Elan pedals with the covers off - no additional manufacturing to do. Should be easy enough to get him to offer a few size combinations.

Once I've seen the pedals for myself I will work on a Fed, driver's side footrest template too. I've also noticed they make some awfully nice, matching sill plates too :wink:

Another update:

Spoke to the manufacturer (really nice people) and he's loaded the templates into CAD. He'll be e-mailing me paper templates to do one last fitting before he begins machining them. Probably won't start until next week but I expect to receive them within 2 weeks from then. I'll report back as to fit with plenty of pics when they're installed. If its a good fit, he'll start listing them on the website for sale.

As for sizing, I've sent him templates of the EXACT size of the clutch and brake pedals with the rubber covers ON. Some of you have expressed interest in pedal covers that are smaller than the rubber ones. He has sent me templates for covers that are a practically an exact match for the pedals WITHOUT the rubber covers and I'm going to test fit a template with one of each size. Its no problem for them to offer an "A" and "B" option that would allow you to specify larger or smaller pedal covers. Obviously, the gas pedal has no cover so no need to worry about that. I'll let you know how it all turns out.

Also, with all the discussion about door sills from previous posts I asked him about his sills. They look quite nice and can match the pedal covers. Here's a few pics.

Update #3:

Cover dimensions now finalized. The gas pedal cover is ever so slightly larger than the bare metal plate. The smaller clutch/brake cover is ever so slightly larger than the bare metal plate - perfect for those of you who want a smaller pedal there. The larger clutch/brake cover is a perfect match for the pedal with the OEM rubber cover on.

Will hopefully have them soon and will post results and pics when installed.

The pedal covers have arrived and i must say they look pretty darn nice. These guys do a good job. I plan on fitting them this weekend after which I will post pics and provide final feedback on size and feel once I break them in :-D

Pedal covers are installed and they look quite nice and feel great. Tokk all of about 40 minutes to do - mostly because I was in the garage doing it and couldn't open the door fully to get closer to the pedals.

Overall, they are quite easy to install. The real key is to pick your mounting holes carefully. Make sure you are going to drill where the back will be as flat as possible. There's a lot of weld seams back there that make the surface uneven and therefore hard to get a nut to sit flush and tight on the back.

The vendor will have these up for sale shortly. After a few days of driving with them I have to say they really feel nice. These will be MUCH better than a generic set of pedal covers which will probably be too big (at least from what I've seen out there). I've asked him to offer the larger brake/clutch and the smaller brake/clutch covers as "individuals" so people can buy 2 large, 2 small or mix and match them. The gas pedal is ordered seperately.

Keep in mind that these are designed specifically for our car. The large brake/clutch pedal is an exact match for the size of the current rubber cover. The smaller brake clutch is just slightly larger than the base metal plate that the rubber covers normally fit over. Should be perfect for those with big feet that are looking for a smaller pedal :wink:

The gas pedal is just slightly wider than the base metal plate to ensure a good fit. They are also curved to match the curvature of the current pedals and will fit nice and tight up against the base metal plates.

I don't know about the rest of you but what turns my crank is someone who goes out of their way to provide excellent customer service. This guy was fantastic. He spent a lot of time making revision after revision of templates in order to make them absolutely perfect and wouldn't settle for them being otherwise (even when I told him they were "close enough"). He takes a lot of pride in his work and reputation. If you're looking for pedal covers, these, while being more expensive than most others out there, are definitely the ones.

And no, I don't get a kickback or make any commission on units sold. I didn't even get a "test subject" price reduction on the first order :lol:

my new pedals have arrived! But I probably wont get around to fitting them for a while yet.

I had a chuckle when I saw the size of the box that they came in! :lol:

They are machined really well. The logo looks good upclose (the pic doesnt show it very well), and will probably improve when the impressions fill with grime.

BTW if anyone wants to know, they were £80 delivered to UK including the logo.

I finally got around to fitting these today! :oops:

They were pretty easy to fit.....once I'd managed to get myself into the footwell! :lol:

I went for the smaller type of pedal; which is just slightly larger than the bare metal plates when you remove the rubbers.

Matt, never. There's lots of options on these pedals including a no slip finish as well as rubber domes to address that. They're pretty good when wet. There's bound to be "some" sliding but its been pretty minimal or virtually non-existent for me.
