Ok

After Le Mans Classic sounds ideal to me!

Lets go with those dates (14th-20th July 2008).

Chris has already expressed interest in Gite (altough I do believe it can sleep 6!! so sub letting is a possibility! :-D )

My parents said that they could provide 1 double bedroom B&B if any body else can not face camping :lol:.

First come first served!

Plenty of room for camping!!

Lets make this happen!

Chris the camping is in Brittany. Its just that some of us are using the opportunity to do the Le Mans Classic before hand.

Brittany, that's bloody kilometers away. although not as far as Barrow in Furness. If the Fed Spec has gone though it's Control Technique then we should be there

Yup ! The pool is built, Garden's big enough to camp in. Beer's in the fridge, wine is in the cellar. The weather in July is normally damm hot. 300 degrees in the shade and there ain't no shade. Damm it's hot !
The house is an hour south of La rochelle, an hour north of Bordeaux, Half hour from the coast. Near a smallish Roman town called Saintes.

The agreed dates are 14th-20th July 2008.

There is still the possibility of B&B if this suits.

Camping space available.

Can we get some hard and fast numbers so ferry crossings can be booked etc.

Pinky & Mrs Pinky are still up for it!

I was discussing it with Paul Watkins, and we were considering a Dover/Calais crossing to save a few quid! I know it's a bit out of the way, but it is a driving holiday!

Failing that, a Plymouth/Roscoff crossing will be easier to sort out the kids ('cos they are going down to their dad's in Cornwall for the week).

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Hi Iain,

I'll be booking the ferry from Dover from which i shall be going straight down to Le Mans. I'll book a return to Dover for Sunday 20/7 which will give a week to enjoy your M&D's rather nice looking Gite.

The cheepest way accross the chanel is with speedferries out of Dover and it is a good service

I agree with the above, although this year Nige got an even cheaper ticket with P&O - that was a special deal of some sort.

I always use speedferries and they have always taken care of me getting on and off because of the low ground clearance. Only bummer was the last trip where they left me parked on a slope with my *new* ineffective handbrake :oops:

Anyone who doesn't want to go from Dover or use expensive Brittany Ferries should look at LDlines who go from Portsmouth to Le Havre. See www.ldlines.co.uk , they are as good as and cheaper than Brittany Ferries.

went on the speed ferries website and could book for the dates i wanted. do they only allow you to book closer to the dates required?
