I got boost creep and had the turbo bored out to 21mm which cured the problem

Yeah, 2" & 2.25" would probably make a dame laugh exactly the same.

Am I being cast in the light of 2" or 2.25"? Cuz mine is 2.5" (and leaks from the flex-joint, I discovered today!).

That tends to happen as they age..... So I've been told.

I have a new 2.5" flex-section on order at Stage Six Motorsports as of today. They'll replace the one on my existing pipe... which they made in the first place 5 years ago.

If anyone else is interested in having a downpipe made let me know ASAP. They have 3" flexes in stock but have to order any of a smaller diameter.

I'd also consider having complete "stiffy's" fabricated if there is someone else to share the cost with.

I'd be very interested in a price for a "trumpet" to replace the lower half of the pre-cat, and then a flex downpipe section to join up to the main system at the usual joint.

When I go in for the work I'll inquire about the "trumpet" (ie, precat eliminator). I've one I bought from another on this forum, but itsa piece I'm keeping should another Elan be bequeathed to me by divine providence.

Must have Elan upgrades, in order of importance are:
1) 4-piston front brakes (forever indebted to ya Brian)
2) free-breathing exhaust
... anything else is just gravy.

Brilliant, thanks.
Just to be absolutely specific, I have no problem with the top half of the pre-cat where it bolts to the turbo. In fact I reckon it's a pretty good bit of kit in the way that it seperates the wastegate airflow, and provides all the necessary O2 sensor and heatshield mouning points. But it bolts together at a join in the middle and from there downwards it's just 'orrible, with a piddly little 2" orifice at the bottom.

My main system is 2 1/4" and joins to the standard 2" downpipe. The entire route can only be as free-flowing as it's narrowest constriction, which is of course the lower pre-cat and pea-shooter sized downpipe. Also, downpipes seem to have a habit of fracturing at the upper weld around the flange. A flexi section should eliminate this.

So if I could replace the lower pre-cat with a "trumpet", and the downpipe with a flexible 2 1/2" one, which would then step down to 2 1/4" at the standard downpipe-mainsystem joint, I would be as happy as a pig in poo!

Check. You only want to replace the 2 parts visible in the upper part of this photo. I assume these are parts the Cybox exhaust does not supplant, correct?

I'd be interested in helping you on the stiffy development. Shall I give you a call sometime?

Enright, having reread your post & recollected that the Peco comes with a flex-section I guess you don't have a Peco-exhaust afterall.

I've no idea if they can make a funnel piece or not. I'm going there Monday just to get the ball rolling as, if you can imagine, they get thousands of requests from time-wasters. This necessitates pressing the matter in person, especially since I didn't recognize the person who answered the phone (remember, I'm just back in town after 4-years away). Stupidly, I drove to their old location Friday, only to find it had become a window-tinting joint. They've moved into a new location, although I'm told Dwight, the main-man, is still there. From reading online posts tonight it seems they have also become the go to dyno place for all of Florida up through central Georgia.

Al, have PM'd you my phone#.

My exhaust is not a Cybox or a Peco.
I can't remember the make - I bought it off Avonvilla (who'd had it made locally) because he didn't like the noise.

I have the Peco system.

Woody, doesn't the Peco come with a flex-downpipe?
