I think white really shows up that gap. Black will hide it much better. The flap can soon be cut when it is installed.

Shame about the supplier too.

rip: I havn´t got the point why you stretch up the back ones so much regarding, that the front ones start at the half of the long body line... why didn´t you take the same length ? The stock ones start at the same hight.

Ciao,
The profile of the two mud flaps is quite similar.
The difference are:
• The shape of the car is different as the rear bumper is more rounded than the front wheel arc
• The rear one has been stretched as I wanted to cover the split between the bodywork and the bumper

In my opinion the difference that you see is because of the color.

ratman: wouldn´t it be better in that case, that the end of the item would be more wider, bigger ? I would guess sth right in the gap of the bumper would be more elegant, wouldn´t it?

Doesn't seem like it does it?

I've been looking for alternatives and came up with these.

The "Sparco" emblem is stick-on, that can be thrown away. They are supplied such that you cut them to size and shape so should do for both front and rear flaps. They don't come with fixings but should be able to sort that easily enough. £11.48 delivered, so it's not a disaster if they're rubbish. Colourwise they should look good on Elans that are red, blue or white. I think the Lotus originals were white anyway, therefore white would be the most suitable one for other Elan colours.

Some other car forums seem to think they are OK.

Has anyone on here tried these?

IIRC it was 30E for the front and the rears were under construction...price TBC at a later date....

I will start by knocking up some paper profiles.......just in case that is....it'll give me something to do now Ive decorated the whole house....
dont want to tread on ratmans toes...I'll just do some research and leg work.....and if he decides hes not running with it then I'll get it going and see if I cant get it done for donington.....

For me it is not the problem of cash… I want and need a good looking, the shape of the elan bootlicking solution that also guarantees a proper work.

If ratman sadly gives up his study, I would give the nearest solution to his former idea an opportunity and who ever this will try it, will appear in my holy goodnight-prayer (and only there ) this night (wet dreams will appear first with a carbon fibre-item )

as enright has said already he's taken his rigid plastic ones off not long after fitting....on uneven surface not by hand...
hence thinking 'rubber' rather than carbon...

Yes, I could do that but I'm not prepared to spend hours tramping around looking for the suitable material. I'd rather pay up and have it delivered. Fingers crossed the material is suitable.

I'm looking for very discrete rather than a huge mudflap flapping around all over the place. I'm hoping to make the fronts and rears out of one pair.

good point. One could finish the ruber also with a "water-transfer" (don´t know the english term, sorry) Would be full function and full optic too if requestet.
