John_W wrote:This is one for all you N/A fans out there. It seems to be for sale in the Perth Mercedes dealer. Might be one I used to see around Aberdeen. Also might be a good buy if it is the same one.
However, £5,000 is maybe a bit dear for an N/A that's done 66,000 miles, unless it really is immaculate and it's what you're after. Maybe they'll take an offer if you point out the lack of a turbo. It's the first one I've seen with the fancy cover over the manifold. Did they all have those when they were new?

Coincidentally its for sale by John W!.

Looks like its been neglected. Fishbowl in drivers seat well? O/S A pillar seal looks a bit funny/is it missing? Selling for a friend!!!!!
Good buy for a person like me who wants to strip the innards out of one - just that the timing is wrong. Unless anyone would like to sub me the cash?

Nah- methinks the price reflect major outlay to get the car sorted?

Wait for a cheap one with high miles or a bit of repairable damage circa 2k I have been offered some and seen them in the past.

Anyone know if this car actually exists? Could it be a scam?
Some of the ad is suspiciously like this one;

how not to sell a car .....
NEW ELAN OWNERS BEWARE...
once again elans falling of the road at an alarming rate...
these cars need money spending on them.
both have excuses as to why the seller will not know a damn thing about the car "selling on behalf of"..
unless you really know what you are doing ( and even i would'nt buy these) you will need deep pockets and plenty of knowledge on how to put these right... this is not a cheap winter project into elan ownership...
do read buying advise first
and then walk away....
ideal for spares...
and then they are overpriced...

I would not touch a crashed car unless it was light damage and then I'd strip it. This looks like a total loss with very little on it undamaged, I wouldn't bother if it was a 'free to collector'.
This is a total liability, the only thing worth having are the back lights! It would cost a lot to dispose of this amount of non recyclable car!
I put a bid on this blue one though, but the reserve is well over priced, genuinely surprised it has attracted such a high bid, what's the mileage?:

What a shocker! no MOT, non runner, with obvious damage to the lip spoiler suggesting the possibility of an impact? I can't believe it hasn't met the reserve at £2200. You either have to pay them to fix it or you tow it away

Had a bid on the Blue one... but it's left my budget again...
So who are the other bidders?

Like Clemo I have also mailed this guy
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1992-Lotus-Elan-S ... dZViewItem
and asked
1 Is the car HPI clear?
2 Can he confirm that the owner of the car would be present to fill in the V5 at point of sale?
I have received no response!!!!!!!!!
