I came across
this site which gives some info on turbos, including DIY repairs. You can pick up repair kits for £50 for the
Fiats but I understand that the RHB5 is the generic information for the guts of the turbo the inlet/exhaust ports may be different. I've asked the seller if his repair kits are compatible.
As mine's on the bench at the moment, for future reference the markings are:
Turbo spec.
VI77 9011
Serial no.
RHB5 29 333A
Parts no.
8943373502
And on the centre section,
40K02 is cast in.
Who's going to be the first to try?

I only did the research to find out how to get the compressor body off - it could do with a polish.

Geoff did you ever get a reply from the Ebay seller?
There`s a bit off play on the shaft in Pinky`s turbo (not getting any smoke thou

) and just thinking of doing a refurb before my Donny trackday.
BTW they have a webs site and are based in blackpool

He confirmed that RHB5 identifies the essential parts, so yes, they are compatible. Also confirmed by Matt.

Monty,
Please post up any info you get on balancing the Turbo. I might give this a shot myself now it's off the car.
Thanks

Bull's Pizzle!
Drove the Elan out of the garage on Wednesday to discover a pool of oil on the garage floor.
Further checks reveal that it is dripping from the intercooler.!
I pulled the turbo intake hose off and there is oil in that hose...
So, I surmise that the oil seal(s) in the turbo have gven up the ghost. Is that a good diagnosis?
The good news is that the vanes look OK, the car still drives well, there's no smoke from the exhaust and there aren't any expensive crunching noises...
So, if it is the turbo oil seals - - where can I source a rebuild kit and is there an idiot's guide to removed the turbo?
Thanks
Jim
