Hi all,
I finished installing the Haltech E6GMx today and have started to tune the car....The hard part is getting it to Idle.

Someone please email a map to me if possible. My poor car hasn't run in almost 2 years now.

Current setup:
1.6L DOHC
680cc Injectors
Garrett T3/T4 hybrid
Big shoehorn to squeeze it all in.

Thanks!

Hey!

Long time no hear!
I saw you offering Robie maps for an E6GMX, could I ask for some too please.
I'm assuming they're e-mailable so sjv@eclipse.co.uk

Many thanks

Sy

Hey Sy, sorry for the lack of a reply! I didn't see your message for some time, then the car is stored for the winter with a flat battery, so it took me a while to get the current map downloaded to the laptop.

Anyway, I Emailed you a copy, so if you didn't get it, let me know!

By the way, I found that my E6GMX has a firmware bug that prevents the wideband O2 sensor from being logged properly - so if you have any issues in that area I thought I would pass it along.

I was beating my head against the wall trying to figure that out! Anyway, the fix is to ship it back to Haltech for a firmware update (or actually a downgrade I think!).

Personally I am looking forward to getting that resolved so I can have another summer of tuning & driving :)

I just thought I would give a heads up on the Haltech tuning:
I have moved from using 91 octane gas and have completely swapped to E85 (105 octane) since it is plentiful around here. It is also only ~$2.60/Gal too! :-D

With that said, if anybody needs a map to run E85, let me know as I have it running great with 680cc injectors and 18psi boost.

I am currently fighting a wiring/electrical issue that causes some random popping/banging at ~5000rpms, but I'll have them sorted out, which is not an issue with the map.

Robbie,

that's a good savings!

too bad there's no E85 out here--only a few places in all of CA you can get it, but none I can drive to on one tank

Are you driving an Elan or a grenade with the pin missing? :-)
Back on topic, I've hesitated to use any Ethanol blend because I have never found reference to the Elan's fuel system being designed to be "ethanol-proof". Anyone know of references to indicate it's OK? Also, when you changed the map, what were the biggest areas of alteration?

All cars built after the '80s are able to run with Ethanol mixed into the gas. Here in Colorado, the regular gas usually has 10% mixed in as it is.

When I went to E85, the only alteration I had to do was richen up the mix by ~20%. In some places, I brought it up to 30%.

E85 makes some killer power compared to regular pump gas:

In a high-compression modified engine, sure. It's like running 105 octane.
