Firstly I don't think the half amber ones are particularly dated and personally don't much like the all clear look  your call, your car .

More seriously It would not be to LEC's advantage to turn the stand we have at Donington into an unrestricted trading opportunity, our mugs stickers clothing and pin badges are fine as that is simply people collecting prepaid orders but straightforward selling is a no-no unless of course the sellers would like to pay a pitch fee to cover our costs

However, I have no interest whatsoever into what goes on in the car park .

I do not wish to take advantage of the situation purely for commercial gains however small, and have P.M'd Enright with an offer which might be of interest.

Regards whether the half ambers look dated or not, I'll leave that up to owners to decide.

I do not need to 'tout my wares' in the car park, if people are interested, they can always contact me through the forum. In fact I don't really need to turn up at all :P

I brought some clear indicator lenses at Donny and I must say that the quality is fantastic. How do I stop the from getting condensation inside the lenses though?

I noticed at Donny that several cars with original lenses also had condensation, so it's not down to the clears not being an exact fit.

I'm not familiar enough with the rear of the unit, but I'm guessing the edge is pressed into a rubber gasket round the outside - maybe a light smear of clear silicone grease would help? Obviously check to see this seal/gasket isn't damaged or perished.

Just a thought...do the original screws have a washer round them like most units of this type? If not, I would try that as it's the only other possible source of water ingress.

Another idea would be to wind a bit of PTFE (plumbers tape) - that thin white stuff you use with plumbing fittings, round the top of the shaft of the screw just behind the head. This should then ensure water doesn't get in through the screw hole.

Which reminds me......I also noticed a number of rusty screws on cars. Can somebody tell me the exact screw size and I'll try to source some in S/Steel to supply with future lenses.

Hope that helps

Glad you like them Galsia, P.M me if you're still intersted in the smoked rears. I'm very keen to see how these look as I think some others might prefer them to clear as well

I've put PTFE tape on the threads but I'm still getting condensation. I've had a closer look and noticed that the rubber gaskets are perished. Can I buy some more from anywhere?

I've finally got round to fitting my new rear lens covers. These are different from the ones that other people have brought because they are tinted. I think they look fantastic. I gave the lights a thorough clean at the same time as well as cleaning the numberplate cover.

Galsia, to get the "clear-rear" look you just remove some of the inner plastic pieces, right?

Also, what does Wolfie charge for Clear Rear Indicator Lenses? Sell by side or by the set?
Strive for perfection in everything. (given time)

Yes, its just a case of removing the orange lenses and replacing them with clear ones.

The price was £99.50 for a set of rears plus postage.

Hi Galsia,

Looks like you did a nice job on the conversion, and I can confirm that they are the most exclusive as they are the only ones in the world 8)

How did you find the fitting procedure?

Here's a pic of the lenses together with a pair of smoked fronts. Perfect solution if you think the clears are a bit bright.

Its nice being exclusive, if only for a short time. :)

Fitting them was pretty easy. The most difficult part was actually removing the lights from the car. I melted the lugs on the original unit and then superglued the new lenses in. I managed to glue my thumb to it in the process though. Never done that before.

Here's just a thought. Could this be done? I tried to photoshop, but I'm not that skilled, so sorry that the pattern in the diffuser is a little inconsistent. My thinking is all clear rear lenses, except maybe the little reflectors, and colored/led bulbs.

Thoughts?

Side repeaters

Postby Dazzlovski » Fri 30.05.2008, 00:31

:-D

I know I'm digressing slightly here , but I've just seen these on flea-bay, but are these a good replacement for the original SE repeaters ?
