Here is the 08 diary. This is a great event and becoming more and more popular.

2 March: ‘Tax-free Sunday – for all road fund exempt (pre-1973) classics’
Attracting: Any classic pre-1973 vehicle; cars, bikes, LCVs, etc., pre- and post-War

6 April: ‘Modern Sports Car Legends – great drivers’ cars, from 1980 to the present day’
Attracting: Modern post-1980 sporting marvels, including Lotus, Caterham, TVR, Ariel Atom, Porsche and many more...


4 May: ‘Two wheels or more, excluding four – everything from bikes to buses and trikes to trucks’
Attracting: Any non-four-wheeled vehicle, including motorcycles, scooters, three-wheelers, multi-wheeled commercial vehicles, tanks, etc., no matter how bizarre.

1 June: ‘Supercar Sunday – the ultimate performance machines’
Attracting: Every form of mouth-watering, high-powered performance exotica – cars and superbikes’

6 July: ‘Soft-top Sunday – a taste of the British summer’
Attracting: Any open-top car, however roofless

3 August: ‘Thoroughbred Sunday – the quintessential pre-1980 sports car’
Attracting: All pre-1980 classic sporting cars and motorcycles

7 September: (not held, due to Goodwood Revival)

5 October: (not held, due to Goodwood Revival)

2 November ‘Sushi Sunday – a celebration of Japanese motoring culture’
Attracting: Any classic and performance Japanese vehicle, from S800 to S2000; 240Z to new Skyline GT-R

All 2008 Goodwood Breakfast Club meetings will be staged from 08:30hrs to midday on the first Sunday of every month, from March to November (excluding September and October).

I'm planning on doing at least 6 April and 6 July. There are likely to be convoys going down each month from various SELOC regions (including Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire), if anyone wants to join.

For 6 April I'll be joining various exotica heading down from Guildford. PM me if you want to join us and I'll give you the details.

For 6 July (Soft-top Sunday) I wondered if there'd be any interest in gathering a posse of Elans to arrive en masse? I'd be prepared to do a bit of organisation, eg if people wanted to come from further afield and stay over locally on Sat night and grab some beers & dinner. I've a route in mind that's a good traffic-free cross country blat to Goodwood for the Sunday and we qualify to park on the circuit. Could also sort something nearby afterwards for an Elaners lunch. Any interest?

Hi Tom,

Count me in for July 6th. Getting a group of M100`s together would be great. Goodwood will be a great place to have a line of cars together. I`m going to try to get my car into the main display to the left of the entrance this Sunday, the car is relevent to the theme this month, so i`m going to make a nuisance of myself at the gate (and arrive early), and hope to get the old girl into the centre of the action. I`m a GRRC member so i`ll use that bit of leverage as well.

I'll look out for you on Sunday Oliver and will also be trying to park in the themed area. Am coming down with a bunch of fellow enthusiasts in a mix of Lotuses, TVRs, Porsches, Ferraris and a Lambo. Forecast is showing snow for north Surrey, so not sure the Atom and 2-11 will be with us!

did anyone make it down. Heard on the VX site there were loads of accidents around goodwood and peeps getting stuck in the snow. Me the only thing i got stuck in was me duvet

I hope everyone made it home safely. An FWD Elan is a good tool in the snow. Just spent three hours washing it.

Notice the Porsche lightweights dissappeared !!! (RWD, i`ll let them off).

Stupid is the word you are looking for Chris !!
I`ve used several cans of WD40 on the running gear after hosing off underneath, hopefully it`s got rid of all the salt and filth. It is in the garage with the dehumidifier now. It looks good again.

Hope to see you next month maybe? If it forecasts snow i have to say i won`t be there !!

Me, I was out with the hood down, enjoying the beautiful sunshine we've had for most of the day.

I did my bit for Elan-dom today too - sorry I didn't see you Oliver, but (a) I got lucky and parked on the circuit and (b) it was too cold and snowy to do much other than shelter in the breakfast marquee, particularly with my two-year old daughter in tow.

I went down with a bunch of SELOCers, PistonHeaders and Furballers from Guildford. Have cross-posted my SELOC write-up below. Lots of chat on SELOC today about struggles getting there (several abandons part way from people coming long distances) and getting home again. A few accidents spotted but don't think many were Goodwooders, just Sunday drivers - only one Lotus involved as far as we know (10mph rear shunt). Think I got lucky getting home relatively easily.

Well that was "interesting"! Clear when I left home but sleeting in Guildford.


Turning to snow as we drove down. Got waved onto the circuit - result! Massive blizzard after we'd parked up; had a quick scoot round the pit straight and paddock.

Brave of B&C to bring Jo's (Dorking neighbour's) 2-11, I thought!


Grabbed a bacon roll and hoped it would ease off. Too cold for the littl'un and worried about roads getting home, so headed back to the car - already covered.



Traffic report said accident and 10 mile queue A3 northbound, so tried my normal route via A285, but accident and people sliding about there too.


A29 was clearish, although lot of people driving like complete cocks.

Car had a snow beard when we got home.


Back in time for the GP! Hope everyone else got home safely - very glad of FWD today

I'm going to give the May meet a miss cos i really can't think of anything without 4 wheels which would be interesting. June 1st is going to be iffy cos there is a VX london to brighton run (but nothing has been confirmed yet). it would be good to meet for the June one -cos its supercar sunday but will need to be there really really early.
