Forthcoming Car Auctions

Postby Sy V » Sat 12.04.2008, 07:41

I don't know about you but I can have a great time at any auction, whether I'm intending buying or not, so I thought I'd start this thread.
If you're near N Yorkshire and likely to be at a loose end on Wednesday 16th April, you could go to a lot worse places than this.
If anyone does go, please take a camera...

Dear Client

This is just a final reminder that our inaugural auction at The Royal Hall, Harrogate, North Yorkshire will be taking place next week. Viewing is from 12:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday April 15th, while the sale itself will be held on Wednesday April 16th with doors opening at 9:00am, the automobilia beginning at 10:00am and the vehicles at 2:00pm.

Highlighting the automobilia section are a wonderful collection of Rolls-Royce and Bentley coachwork drawings and a series of items relating to the late, great Mike ‘The Bike’ Hailwood. Fittingly, the motorcycle section contains a F1 World Championship winning 1982 Honda RS1000 ridden by TT legend Joey Dunlop and two ex-Works mounts of Barry Sheene, namely a Suzuki XR40 and XR45. The motorcar section is headlined by the 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Short Chassis Volante (1 of 37), the 1962 Aston Martin DB4 Series IV Vantage (1 of 45) and the 1966 Aston Martin DB6 (28,000 miles from new) but also includes a 1932 Delage D6 Faux Cabriolet that used to belong to Bernie Ecclestone and a 1974 Lamborghini Espada that was formerly owned by Bono of U2 fame.

Among the Bentleys on offer, the ex-Harry Rose / Ann Shoosmith 1951/1969 MKVI Turbocharged Special and the 1937 Derby 4.25 Litre saloon which has been in the current ownership since 1966 stand out. Though, the beautifully preserved 1937 Lagonda LG45 Drophead Coupe, one registered owner from new 1972 Jaguar E-type V12 Roadster and ‘XKA 1’ registered 1956 Jaguar XK140 Roadster are also noteworthy. Finally, we would like to thank the Yorkshire Motor Museum for supporting us with the entry of three cars including the fantastic 1921 Wolseley ‘200 Mile Race’ Evocation.

Have a good weekend

Kind regards

H&H
