There was program on sunday IIRC was called Race Driver on virgin TV, it`s the US Champ cars, even though it was mostly about the race drivers the champ car races was far more interesting than F1. Think this down to the teams having nearly identical cars which makes it a fare race and then it`s down to the drivers skill, maybe this is the way F1 should go :?

Sort of what they tried to push with A1 GP.
I think the attraction of F1 is that the technology is cutting edge.

Bloody hell can't believe how small minded you can be Oliver :? Are you related to Alonso are is he your sh@g partner?

That incident was on the exit of the corner and there should of been no way Hammy could of caught him unless Alonso lifted off or dabbed the brakes.
If it is investigated and thats found to be true then thats bad for the sport and Alonso should have his nuts removed and kicked out off F1.

Don't get me wrong Hammy had his chance last year and blew it! but Alonso does come across as a bit of a t*t.

According to Renault telemetry, Alonso was flat-chat when Hamilton hit him, apparently Hamilton`s front wing support broke just before the impact, which explains the sudden speed differential due to loss of front downforce / drag.

But it dosen`t alter the facts. Alonso didn`t brake or lift and ITV are still a load of Hamilton biased muppets. I hope they have apologised to him.

So apparently is a fact :?

What is the Mclaren version of the "facts".

Is there a second side to this arguement or are Hamilton's camp keeping quiet?

From the horse`s mouth, so to speak.

See Here : Question 4.

http://www.mclaren.com/latestnews/mclar ... rticle=113

So it looks like, apparently, it wasn`t Alonso`s fault :D

So apparently is still a fact

Nice pun if it was Fewwarwi not Mclaren :-D

Oliver's link wrote:I realised Lewis’s upper front wing had disappeared about two seconds before the accident, so he suddenly lost downforce. We haven’t analysed why that happened but we suspect the structure had been weakened by previous contact. To be fair to Lewis it could have broken of its own accord, but that has never happened before so contact is the most likely cause. There’s certainly no evidence that Fernando did anything wrong.

Thanks for putting the other side of the arguement forward Oliver, I'm sure Monty will have a rethink on his earlier comments, (but not necessarily retract them), dust having settled and evidence gathered, emotions cooled etc .

So was the telemetry made public or is that from Renault?

A quote from MARTIN WHITMARSH from the above link
Lewis’s upper front wing had disappeared about two seconds before the accident,

That sounds strange as the front wing was still attached when he ran in to Alonso :smt017

Oliver wrote

so already there`s conflicting views :smt017 and if that was true surley with the lost of down force shouldn`t Hammy not of gone wide since it was the exit of a turn :smt017

So how do you think Alonso will do at the next race?

I think all this justifies ITV's comments. They said that it seemed strange that a car could run into the back of another whilst accelerating.

Now we know the facts, rather than the Spanish chap braking, it seems that the wing broke on Hamilton's car causing him to have extra closing speed.

So ITV had a valid point when they said it wasn't normal. Well spotted I say.

Hmm. A difficult question to answer. As long as they start moving up, rather than down, which i am sure they will, i would hazard a guess that both Renaults will score points in Spain. And remember, Renault are true innovators in F1. First turbo engine, several Lotus wins, 1st V10, 1st V10 win, 1st V8 win. The Anglo - French alliance is always ultimately successful, whether as an engine supplier or constructor. McLaren haven`t won a championship in a decade, only Ferrari and Renault have. Lewis had a bit of luck last year, but he`s definately in the `difficult second season` now, and if he dosen`t qualify well, he can be a poor racer, prone to mistakes, and in my opinion, vulnerable to over-rating his own ability. Oh, and add to that McLaren`s legendary ability to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Ferrari will win both titles this year. (Raikkonen)

Renault will be back winning races in 2009 (Alonso)

You beat me to it Clemo !

Yep, I can't see Alonso hanging around Renault past this year. In fact hasn't the Red Bull chief publicaly stated that they withdrew interest once they found out he already had a contract for 2009....

Eat some humble pie boys, Renault and Alonso ARE BACK !!!!! :D

It also is a possibility that we are starting to see a McLaren decline, caused by a lack of feedback from the (inexperienced) driver pairing.

I did warn you it was only it was just a question of time.............

Lets see if Biased Boy Oliver will be so quick to reply as he did for the Quali :smt081

Renault have improved but i think the low fuel for Quali was a gimick for the fans and was quite obvious that he would end up down the field as it looked like he was on a 3 stop strategy

To be honest i was hoping he was going to have a bit of a battle as the race wasn`t the most exciting :( :?
