door wont open

Postby stevo » Sat 10.05.2008, 16:57

i fix one problem and 2 more arrive, you would think i'd be used to it by now.

the central locking will not unlock the drivers door, it opens the pas. side and will push the interior lock button half way up. lock sounds ok but is just stuck! how will i get it open?

Stevo,

Do a few more tests to narrow it down.

Lifting both door latches - operating both door locks with the key - and see what works and what doesn't.

Will the remote, lock the doors when unlocked? and so on.

Either a simple case of something sticking or it could be that the module in the door is dead. I'd do the following:

1) Remove lock button via orange clip trick. Wiggle wire to assess mechanism. If sticky, get in there with spray grease, WD40 etc and free.

2) If no joy with 1, remove door liner ( ) and have a proper look. I have mine apart if you need any pics of where things are.

Stevo,

This sounds like a central locking issue if both doors have locked.

See if (and I don't know how you would do it) the locks can be hotwired so that you can pop the lock open - I guess it must be a case of applying 5v or 12v to the live wire going to the solenoid/actuator.

can you use the key???
ie...disconnect the battery and try the key.....
line both locks up the same and reconnect the battery and see what happens

The motors are controlled by the CDL - the circuit's on the Wiki but It's not obvious what it's doing. As well as the CDL module (behind the dash) the alarm is also connected to the motors, so it may be worth looking at the CDL and alarm.
