but out of interest, was this model ever 'standard fitment' on anything in the UK - after all, the wrecker/recovery yards are full of newer stuff these days?

The aftermarket turbo packages for Mazda MX5s (http://www.flyinmiata.com) say:
The standard turbocharger is the GT2560R. This is our favorite all-around turbo, providing good power potential with good spoolup. A smaller GT2554R is also available for those who make response their highest priority.

lotusgirlmarie wrote:heya gents,
just to clarify. I'm not doing the can to turbo pipe. I am doing the turbo to intercooler pipe in these kits. As an FYI the inlet to the "can" is 2.25. Come to think of it, for those of you that ordered the intake pipe on the LGM BOV thread, I will do a limited run of the correct size can to turbo. That info needs to be updated on the other thread to keep me straight. Just add a "turbo" to your order on the other thread.
The 3" inlet is for custom intakes such as the ones on Ekapol and my car. Only plus is more availability of air. Volume vs. velocity of a given amount of air. Other than that no advantage
