Matt, i`m not sure on that one but looking from the pic`s it looks like a copy as there`s no Garrett stamped on the housing :?

Guys,

What are we doing about Injectors and 3bar MAP sensor? can we get them in the UK :?

Marie,
What can we expect from the Garrett Turbo in terms off Horsepower and Boost limit?

Jay,

No doubt these will have to be imported. Are you organising the group buy :)

boost limit with the stock ECU is the same. the only advantage that you get is faster response and a different power curve. After phase two of the upgrade (injectors and Map sensor) you can easily get into the 300+ horsepower range reliably. Houdini did it, Ive done it, Ekapol has done it. My only concern is fuel mapping. I need to work with Alan to develop a chip for this to ensure a reasonable safeguard for the engine with the new MAP sensor and fuel injectors. Ekapol and I have electronic boost controlers and I think tigerdog has a MBC

the MAP sensor can be had from www.summitracing.com. As for the injectors... a quick search for RC Engineering 550cc injectors will come up with quite a few results.

on the turbo to exhaust manifold adapter plate, please order the 5/8" version from cranbury. if you order the 1" it will have to be milled down to 3/4" to allow enough clearance or the from framework and clamshell.
Or if you can coax him into doing a run of 3/4" plates this would be best.

O also talked to Ekapol at dinner about coming up with aninstall manual for this this little project.

Oh well as mine arrived yesterday best I get it milled down  . The challenges of being too close to the front of the pack, not a drama though.

As far as 3 bar map sensors and RC injectors along with a new ECU or a new chip (be nice to Alan) I se this as a second stage and I'm probably not going to do both stages at once as before I go to the second stage I want to seriously consider what I might want to do to the suspension to make sure i can actually use the power. The car has already or will be upgraded in terms of transmission and drivetrain, cooling system and intercooler before I fit the upgrade (stage 1) then work on the suspension, then stage 2. That said if a group buy of the necessary bits was on the cards I'd be daft not to, I just might delay fitting them for a while until I was satisfied I'd done everything else I wanted or needed.

If the ECU can be programmed for high boost (maybe up to 1.4lb boost) and the right fueling then we could all chip in to pay Alan for his time and effort ie if we all put say £100 each then it may put a smile on his face :? + once i get the Turbo i suppose i could do the odd visit to Alan and maybe get it Dyno`d for better results.

1. Ailwyn #2 everything inc turbo, 2.25", black connectors
2. Ailwyn #2 no turbo (I may change my mind based on group buy cost), 2.25", black connectors
3. Monty #2 (everything) 2.25" inlet, Blue Connectors.
4. MattDon (everything) 2.25", red connectors
5. Nige - #2 (everything), 2.25" inlet, Red Connectors. But dont believe I actually need the trash can to turbo inlet pipe or the connectors at either end of it. I will however go for the whole kit if that keeps things simple.
6. Paul.P -#2 ( everything ), 2.25" inlet, Black connectors.
7. Dico - #2 (everything) 2.25" inlet, Blue Connectors.
8. dapinky - #2 (everything) 2.25", black connectors
9. F1 LOTUS - everything except trashcan > compressor inlet. (Red)
10. Richard K -#2 (everything), 2.25" inlet, Black Connectors
11. theelanman -#2 (everything incl turbo), 2.25" inlet, Yellow Connectors

Nice work contacting cranbury Ailwyn.

I can't stop salivating :-)

don't lie, i've been reading this thread all along  no i haven't!

i actually just got word from my waterjet guy, he has 3/4" plate again. depending on the number of interested parties i might be able to get the price down a few bucks or at least keep it the same as i just got word that ARP raised their prices, which totally sucks  . i'll keep an eye on ya'll and then talk to my guy once everyone is set to purchase.

can i assume then to harass my guy for at least 11 of these? they take well over 40 minutes a piece to cut...he will be happy for the business but be a little pissed about the time he'll have to put in :p

Nige has already got your adaptor plate, although it`s the 1" version which i think he`s having milled down.

So there`s at least 10 needed.

BTW, i was looking at the RC injectors, bloody hell there not cheap  your talking £200 to £300 a set :(
found this site which sell RC injectors in the UK
http://www.futuremotorsports.com/listIt ... 2ce9a48e86

But which injectors do we need, SATURATED INJECTORS or PEAK AND HOLD INJECTORS ?
I may hold of buying the injectors till i`ve got the kit

Marie, have you got a part number or a link to the actuall MAP sensor we require please :-D

im sure people have their own sources but after a little look around i found the turbo for $800 excluding shipping and import fees.

feel free to pm links and i'll keep updating this if we find cheaper.

apollogies for repeating a previous post, but the guys above will ship for $87.50 so it works out a little cheaper.

there are 2 turbos here at $775....seems to be the cheapest Ive found...however the $150 shipping costs make it more expensive than sourcing one in the UK.......

It may be worth mentioning [confirming] at this time the need to upgrade the clutch when you breach a certain BHP threshold?

I seem to recall it is around 220BHP when the stock clutch cries Enough!

Personally I have no experience in this area but those who do, please weigh-in with your findings as it will help people decide how far they want to go :D
