I would suggest you get a confirmation of numbers, but I'm in for 2.

Thanks

From what Marie has posted I need to get mine milled down, if that will cost me more than another I'll take one, but I think that unlikely so you probably only need to harass him for 10.

As far as 3 bar map sensors and RC injectors along with a new ECU or a new chip (be nice to Alan) I se this as a second stage and I'm probably not going to do both stages at once as before I go to the second stage I want to seriously consider what I might want to do to the suspension to make sure i can actually use the power. The car has already or will be upgraded in terms of transmission and drivetrain, cooling system and intercooler before I fit the upgrade (stage 1) then work on the suspension, then stage 2.

It may be worth mentioning [confirming] at this time the need to upgrade the clutch when you breach a certain BHP threshold?

I seem to recall it is around 220BHP when the stock clutch cries Enough!

Personally I have no experience in this area but those who do, please weigh-in with your findings as it will help people decide how far they want to go :D

Clutch is done.

MSD-2313

MAP sensor that both ekapol and I are using

Injectors are alittle expensive but would you trust your engine to "cheap"

Cranbury, glad to see your taking an interest in our little thread.8)

Clutches... Ekapol still has the OEM in his. it does slip but just barely and it does have some milage on it.

If any of you do have adjustable dampers, after the install, you may want to stiffen up the rear as weight transfer will be an issue with this much oompf on tap.

Ekapol will also be helping me out alittle on this run keeping all our "ducks" in a row. As he and I were talking about last night," I just like to build stuff and don't really like the logistics beyond that"

I'm almost done with my Shopping list for the install parts. Final pricing to come shortly.

i would see about fitting the 1" before you mill it, might just clear. i have been told by my guy that he can start putting some in next week.

on the clutch, i am running a clutch master stage 3 with upgraded pressure plate and a sprung segmented kevlar disc...and it feel AWESOME! a little chatter if you don't give it a wee bit of throttle, but doesn't slip and isn't much stiffer than stock. it is capable of holding approx 330HP.

there are pics in my thread here:

As it sits right now I have 5/16" -3/8" between the turbo and the front frame crossmember. Alittle close but more than enough for engine movement. This is with the 3/4" spacer. I just like the extra cushion. I'm afraid the 1" may be too close or worse....hit. check out the 2nd photo of mine on page 2.

Your 3/4" piece was perfect.

The 1" adapter plate is too thick!

Marie, I have emailed Cranbers about it, but I'm sure he'll pick it up on here as well.

I think the price is speculation and should be removed from the list.

I'm going to wait and see what price (if he goes ahead) Alan sets for the chip before committing, as without the 550s ad 3bar map the everest should suffice.

Sorta ditto. I already have the 3/4" adapter-plate. I think the chance to upgrade turbo-technology is probably too good an opportunity to pass-up. Like Brian, I just want better response (faster-spool) and will opt for the 2554R. Having the basic kit will allow me or anyone who owns the car after me the ability to mount the bigger turbo, injectors, MAP & Diablo-chip if they choose... where without the kit the car would not be upgradable. I am also concerned about markedly decreased mileage once the fuel-mapping for the 3-bar MAP is in place.

I just have not signed on as I've not seen any price floated yet.

Remember that my 274HP nitrous car ruined a 90% uprated clutch in only 2 weeks; but nitrous comes on NOW, like a light-switch, and does not "ramp-up" its clutch-load. I was just immediately throwing 75HP at the drivetrain, and so had to switch to a full-metallic 4-puck clutch. Truth be told that clutch took a lot of the joy out of driving the car on a daily basis.

Paul W,
I was afraid of that. How far off is the clearance? Other than the adapter how is the downpipe, coolant and oil lines?

For the unaware,Paul W was the recipient of the first #1 kit. He graciously asked me 3 or so months ago about some help on the turbo upgrade and his insight will be invaluable as to fitment on the Euro cars.

Ah, I knew someone else in the UK had ordered an adaptor plate but not who. All is now clear.

You can offer the turbo up to the adapter plate, but it is then zero clearance to the front (touching) - no room for any engine movement! IMHO the 3/4" thickness is the optium to allow clearance at the manifold and front ends.

The downpipe pattern is spot on.

And so are the coolant and oil lines.

Ekapol had quoted me, so i think he means putting money in the pot to help towards the development of the chip and i would imagine the Chip it self would be an extra cost. But this is only if the ECU is capable of being programmed for the extra boost and obviuoly if Alan has the time. At the moment i`m leaving it to Ekapol as i think he`s in talks with Alan. :?

However I don't want to miss out either so....

I'm in for a new chip from Alan

I've had some side-conversations (PM) with Alan on this subject and what's proposed here is not trivial, because it would require reverse-engineering all of the maps in the chip, not just the boost and fuel-cut bits. Having said that, if Alan believes it's possible, I'd certainly want to participate.

Yes. :agree:

Monty wrote:Ekapol, have you been in touch with Alan?

I sent him a couple of IMs and the "before" Elanscan snap shot of my car.

It would be nice if you could help pinging him.

The ignition timing curve will need to be reprogrammed in some certain ranges with a 3 bar MAP in place. The computer still think the car is running NA at around 5 psi boost, before it starts to retard the ignition timing at higher psi.

Cheers,
Ekapol
