Gearbox

I have decided to sort out the gearbox synchro problems on my SE at the same time as fitting a new driveshaft and clutch. I have been quoted £950 + vat for an exchange unit from Southwest Lotus. They tell me that parts are very hard to find.
Can anyone suggest an alternative supply of either a gearbox or rebuild parts?
Thanks,
Chris

For a bit more money you could pick up an unbroken car like this one:

I guess space could be a problem.

EDIT: I'm assuming the one sound part of this example is the engine. I haven't viewed it.

Theory - Good.
Practice - Poor.

The N/A gearbox internals (final drive) are different to the SE.

Give Roy Bury at Paul Matty's a bell (01527-835656) - they rebuilt mine a couple of years ago.
Mention my name and you might get a favourable quote.
