Rafael, got mine & Dico's, thanks very much for doing this :!:

By the way, when bolting the adaptor plate on, do we use a gasket, gum gum or the like ?

Rafael, couple of small points, perhaps you could clarify please,

The main adaptor plate exhaust cut out, (that is rectangular),, that fits over the manifold cutout ( that is circular ), overlaps quite a bit, please see pics, is this how it should be, as this appears to be restricting the exhaust gases ?.

Secondly, the bolt hole indicated by the red pen, is smaller than the others, & yet the stud is the same size, is there an explanation ?

Paul, see here fourth post from the bottom with the pictures. You need blend the adaptor plate and the manifold and countersink the stud head so it is flush with the adaptor plate.

THANK YOU!!! and yes, a gasket is best between the adapter and stock manifold. also, if you look at LGM's/Ekapol's pics you will notice that the stock manifold needs to be expanded also. you can probably get by without smoothing out the adapter but if you have the stock gasket and a dye grinder with a carbide bit, i would get to it ;)

also, if you haven't noticed the hole on the far right is smaller than the rest, i did this so that you could drill the larger hole for the head of the countersunk bolt first without too much bit play, then drill the thread diameter last.

Ailwyn, i have the ARP, just waiting on the adapters to be cut and tapped. i'll get them out asap. thanks for payment.

And so it becomes clearer :) , when you say "Blend" the two together, do you mean grind the adaptor plate out until its hole allows the full hole of the manifold to show ?.
I see what you mean about the small hole, very sensible !.

Thanks, Paul

yes! if you look at Ekapol's picture you will clearly see that the stock ROUND port was grinded about half way into the adapter. i don't have the ISUZU template anymore to mark the port, but you multi-layered stock gasket should do the trick. again, it's optional, air will still flow into the T25 port. there will just be the small lip of the adapter it will have to pressure by. nothing major, at 700-7000 rpm air will find it's way into the T25 ;)

It seems i was barking up the wrong tree ( or was it just barking  ), so we need to grind the exhaust manifold, not the adaptor plate ?, also, did you use the original lotus studs for manifold to adaptor, & if not can you tell us what we need, & the size of the 1 caphead bolt please ?

Thanks, Paul

Paul,

If you look at the picture I linked to previously there is benefit in also grinding some out of the top of the manifold side of the adaptor plate to ensure it is smoothly blended all round for best gas flow.

We didn't use the original studs.
Also it takes Marie's modification skills here and there (like that one flush bolt), which we will eventually include in the installation manual. :-)

The size? I don't remember the exact size.

Marie might be the best one to ask. All I remember was that those studs are bloody expensive. They all add up to eventually a higher number for total cost.

Yes, the studs, etc. will be included in the full kit.

I ordered a boatload of new studs fand nuts rom Isuzu for the manifold to head and manifold to adapter. Both Ekapol and I have new manifolds as well to make install easier with less downtime.

Marie, is it possible to source the new manifold at the same time as mine's showing signs of cracking?

Thanks

Ailwyn,
just curious but if you really wish me to source you a manifold would you also like me to take delivery of the addapter plate and port match it? I'll look into pricing.....

DBE after shipping $374.87...just called them. they have 3 on the shelf.

Marie, if you wouldn't mind, could you do the same for me as Ailwyn please? I'll gladly pay you for your time with the grinder. (I already have Crams work of art though, so you would need Ailwyns as a template, assuming he still wants one)
Theres not many of these left it seems. An ideal time to put a new manifold on.

Thanks Marie :-)

If its extra hassle you don't need, then no problem at all.
Its only money, you can't take it with you ;-)
