What colour is Pistachio Green?

Postby Kier » Tue 24.06.2008, 20:12

Evening,

I would ideally like some assistance with this asap so that I can get some paint ordered tomorrow. Appreciate I have a thread going already about the project on my car to re-spray it.
http://lotuselancentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12719

However, I have a specific question which hasn't really been answered within the thread itself (well not enough to reassure me yet!) so I'm hoping mods of the forum will treat this as a separate question (although I know it's similar to some of the other thread) and they'll therefore leave this thread going until I’ve had a few responses.

I have now found somewhere that can supply me with Pistachio green paint, however I have not actually seen the colour in real life and am only going on pictures and some of you guys saying it's close to the Krypton green I originally wanted to go for.

I really want to get clarification from some of you as to exactly what Pistachio actually looks like before I order it (the girl at the paint place said they could send me a sample in a 400ml aerosol, however it would look slightly different when purchased in bulk anyway!)

So before I go ahead and order a few litres of it, can anyone who knows what the colour looks like 'in real life' confirm here which of these pics is closest (or ideally the same as it!)

If my understanding is correct, the first picture here is not like the Pistachio? (older picture so bad quality?)

Are these two pics below a good match? Specifically, is the Elise pic a match with Pistachio? (even though I know in real life it's a Krypton Elise, does the colouring of the picture make it look Pistachio???)

If I get a few of you that confirm the colour is the same as either of the bottom two pics I will go for it!

Just want some reassurance fisrt before I commit.

many thanks,

Kier.

I'd say the Europa picture is crap (even the wheels have a red hue) and the Elan is pretty close.

Here's another sample from LotusElanSprint.com:

Re-adjusting the red level on the Europa so that the wheels are silver gives this:

Kier

If you could get the pantone code for the paint you want then there wouldn't be any doubt.

Cheers

Pistachio is also described as Lime Green and I have a Pinchin and Johnson (whatever that may be) reference for it of 6170W2230. Of the pics you've posted I think the old Elan looks pretty close from memory of those I've seen. It's a pretty bright colour but isn't quite as eye watering as some of the more modern colours such as Scandal or Krypton, less acidic if that makes sense.

Yep, the Elan in the bottom pic is a good representation of the colour IMHO

Thanks for comments so far.

Jim I have the Lotus paint code it's L13, I just haven't seen the colour in real life, hence wanting to check which picture is close before I purchase the paint.

Thanks Nige, that does make sense and is pretty much what I wanted to hear!

Thanks also Will & Geoff

my mate has a pistachio sprint.......green over white but with the gold stripe........its a good colour but I think Id need a pro photographer to get get the real colour.........(not in your time scale)
its dificult to show the colour in pics....light and all that......
what I can say is that compared to metalics its a 'flat' colour.......shine and polish makes a big difference...but metalics bring it out even more....
dont get me wrong Im not tryin to put you off.....Id do it......
what ever you do it'll be unique.........
I’m normally not a praying man, but if you’re up there, please save me, Superman.

Seems a bit obvious, but can't you source a local Elise for sale privately or at a dealers and have a look to check it out ?

Cheers Rambo, but the Elise doesn't come in pistachio as far as I'm aware. (The pic of the Elise above is Krypton Green, it just looks lighter than usual in that pic).
