How many of you are planning on going to Farnborough?

How many might consider an early visit, with their Elan, to have a close look at the Eurofighter Typhoon (evil plan forming.....)

There were enough Elans there at the weekend to have thrown up a cheeky stand and shown them off together! I mean if the German Mini's can have one then surely we could have!

I had it parked by our stand for the Waddington Kart club for most of the weekend... it got more attention than the karts!...naturally

I was hooped all weekend! Blagged our way into the visiting aircrew tent - free beer and food...which is nice. Nothing like the rumble of jet engines to wake you up though! The Kart stand was near the static Sentry in the middle - though we were slightly eclipsed by 2 pro-kart teams next to us showing off their 25 grand machines. My 5 grand (

) Elan was better though!

Neil came and said hello, yes - he was showing his car off officially I think.

Were you in the black racing overalls on the sunday in the aircrew tent...before the after show party...

we were the ones in deserts...(then later suncream...)... normally on a 6 wheeled Gator

did you have any of that free Chec beer... 8% I think...

Many years ago, I flew KC-135 tankers. I spent a wonderful 6-week TDY at RAF Mildenhall, and would have given almost anything to get an assignment there when the Air Force later stood up a permanent unit. Anyway, this is a cool vid of one of the big things that sold the Air Force on that aiplane back in the day.

Well, it's not quite a jet (or even particularly fast), but this thread is about the most appropriate place for this post.
At the weekend I visited the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby - home of one of the best preserved Lancaster bombers in the world.
"Just Jane" as she is called can often be seen powering up all four Merlin engines and taxiing around the airfield, and is not far off flying condition.

I was most startled by the lettering on her port flank - what a coincidence!

The idea of a trip out and a bit of a photo opportunity started to form, so I got details of when she might be available.
Would anyone fancy a run out one day during the Summer? If so, I'll post more details.
