Especially considering its a Sports car mag and a Turbo car. Nice pics of the car, who is that young lad in the baseball cap, is he a friend of yours. I think I have seen him about. :-D Dignity intact!

Not a bad, if short, article on the Mclaren F1!

Not sure, but the CD has more pics of him than it does of the cars :-D

Especially pleased with the dramatic shots on the green in Hatfield Forest, with the moody sky and the rather imposing dead tree. Candidate for the 2009 calendar methinks.

The ones toward the camera on the double bend ain't too bad, except that the driver is concentrating so hard he looks really miserable, no sign of the famous Elan grin

It's a part - I'll give you a big clue - and it's not Norfolk Mustard paint

So our indicators are the same as those on a car costing £634,500 new, and £880k now.

Pity that bit didn't get a mention in our article, might have pushed the resale values back up a tad

When I sold my old yellow lenses on e-bay (£40). I was going to sell them as F1's but didn't think many owners would look for parts on e-bay

A car that shares parts with a Mclaren F1 and a Vauxhall Corsa.

Thanks for that, quite a nice trivia fact. A shame the Elan doesn't share the BMW engine!

If you work in the automotive industry then you will know there are very few cars which have unique parts. I can't think of any except perhaps the Veyron. It's normal to use parts that have already been mass produced, I would not say the Elan is in any way unusual in that respect but I would say it's character does not suffer for it.
Other cars have been limited by their dependance on bought in components. All the the important parts that make the Elan so good are all unique.

Please excuse me for dragging this thread kicking and screaming back on topic, but I must just say that the article was excellent - one of the best I've seen. Great publicity for LEC too. It's just a shame that they banished it to the back end of the mag. Well done Dave and Phil. :smt023
