It certainly does! But that doesnt look like its a goer at the moment!

But I've got a plan C as well! And it involves an early start heading north north west, paying £5.30 to the French, and continuing north up some of the best driving roads in the UK

I'll stick my name on the seloc list but it isnt looking good at the moment. I can only think that peeps are holding off until the last minute due to the weather.

Plan 'B' is a bit weather dependant (but we're up for it if 'A' doesnt happen).

Plan 'C' involves giving cash to the French and Invading the Welsh - so there is rough & smooth with that one.

Any particular roads? Elan Valley??

Alternatively, Plan 'D' involves a drive out to Sandford for a few bottles of Thatchers finest, up into the hills for a BBQ (or at home in the rain!), and a blast over the mendips.

I didn't want to commit to it yet, but I may well visit weston for this event. But the lack of info on the SELOC site put me off getting too excited though if I'm honest. I expected there to be loads of info about stuff going on, but when I joined up in the week and had a look, it basically says come to weston, we're allowed to park right by the beach I could do that by going 2 minutes down the road!

I agree with you

Last year there was a long thread about what was planned for the day (including a series of drives through the local twisties, and a bit of a blast around the airfield). Many of the planned events didn't get off the ground (no critisism intended of the organiser - he was trying for weeks to get it all together, but kept being let down!)

The weather was great, but the day seemed to consist of a car park on the beach lawn, with lots of nice cars (mainly elises) with a couple of local drive-outs.

The LECers who attended did our own thing - you know, fish & chips, a walk on the pier (can't do THAT this year!), then went for a drive up and over the Mendips, ending at a local reservoir for a stroll and a BBQ. (conveniently planned near to the A38 so everyone could get home easily!).

Having taken a days holiday from work, i don't want to just sit at home - but a final decision will probably have to wait to see what the weather is like before i decide what to commit to!

If something was happening on the Saturday and I could find somewhere to sleep I could make a weekend of it but a round trip of 350 miles is a bit far just for the Sunday

I have booked the weekend off, so will be up for plan A,B,C, or D

According to BBC weather web site the forcast is improving towards the weekend, so half a chance the weather may come good

I currently seem unable to log on to SELOC to put my name in hat (no idea why) Pc.

I sorry to inform everyone that were planning on attending Sun,Sea & Burning Rubber at Weston Super Mare this Sunday 31 August 2008, that the event has had to be cancelled.

This is due to the extreme incompetence of the local council who are unable to provide access to the area. This was only discovered by myself when i checked out the area last night. A fact that the council failed to inform me of.

I am extremely sorry for the last minute nature of this cancellation.

I hope that this does not spoil your plans for the weekend.

Looks like a decision has to be made

Too many choices, only one day off!

The obvious choices are:-

1) join up with the southerners at Monkey World (for BBQ).
2) head over to Wales so Ailwyn can come and play
3) turn up at Smiffy's with a set of spanners and a hungry/thirsty look on my face!
