What glue do I use for patching hood material?

Nope. My old seatbelt needs re-attaching and I've got to put new velcro on the cross-rails and new thick elastic between them too. The danger is now that the fabric keeps getting trapped in the stowage cover latches.

So far so good but only been soaked once by torrential rain and midlly moist when washing the car.

Er, what?
1) The old seatbelt is partially stuck to the inside of the hood.
2) The soft half of the velcro sticks to the rails that go across the car, and
3) the elastic runs from front to rear.

Have tried two local dive shops, who at least knew what it was, and five local Thames-side Chandlers.....

Although it is my glue of choice for drysuit repairs, my nearest dive shops don't stock it - i actually get mine from the local harware shop (a 'local' job, not a B&Q/HOMEBASE etc type superstore).

Stick-on Leather elbow pads seems to do the job, damned if I can find a supplier for more though...

I have my own shoe repairer shop i will ask the rep next time he calls if he can order some tins from Bostik.

Ive bought some Evo-Stick Serious Glue .I intend to re-glue the rubber seal that goes across the top of the door windows.Where it makes contact to the soft top frame .There is a bead of black mastic-glue that goes the length of the window top .It has hardened and lost its stick .Is the mastic factory or has a previous owner used it.What i want to know is .Should i leave it on .As the factory found you needed quite a thick bead.Underneath the seal .I didn't want to scrape it off if it pushes the seal up and out to seal against the window.Also the glue Ive got should not be used on polyethlene and polypropylene.Are any of these in the seals? Any advise would be much appreciated. Max & Andy

Slightly off topic, I know but this was the closest thread I could find for my question and I didn't want to start a new thread for something so minor.

I've bought some black seat belt webbing, off e-bay, to do the protective internal hood patches for the infamous hood wear points. (RH & LH rear shoulders). I'm OK for the adhesive. The question is how long should I make each seat belt webbing patch for them to be effective but not overlong?

The webbing is 53mm wide ( about 2ins for all you £sd people ).

I'd previously tried self adhesive tent repair patches but they almost immediately fell off !

I would say aboout 100 - 120 mm should do it.

I used Wilkinsons brand cloth adhesive and made my roughly oval patches from the palms of cheap leather riggers gloves. Still going strong after 5 years in all sorts of weathers with no sign of coming off or wearing out.

I used some equestrian repair material. It's hard wearing but thinner and more flexible than seat belt webbing.

I've got some spares (~7.5cm x ~4.5cm) in return for a kitty donation.
