new dials

Postby holty » Thu 28.08.2008, 21:47

Took some pics of my new dials tonight. They are from metal monkey and they were great to deal with. I have put leds behind them and they light up sound. I was going to go with blue and white dials but went with green so it matches the car. I think there clearer to read than the lockwoods also. Cheers Holty :)

Looking good.

Still need to order mine, but might as well wait to see yours and Nigel's at the 60th, providing you are going?

Are they now doing the fog, hazard light switch and cig surround as well?

That's very nice, Holty. The 'Secret Squirrel' Elan silhouette is especially pleasing.

I'd often wondered what red km/h would look like with blue or green mph. Thanks for demonstrating..... Not bad at all!

The white dials are growing on me - especially with the metal indicator stalks.

Have you been tempted to consider an aluminium centred Elise steering wheel?

or look at eBay Item number: 230282916291

Any reason you didn't go for a white background on the heater controls, etc?

Did you stick with your existing bulbs, or fit LEDs?

Wish you'd posted these on the "Instrument panel ideas, please!" thread in "Electronics / Stereo / Lights" :poke:

Gazza hopefully i'll be there! The white switches and cig lighter were bought off ebay and i changed the bulbs inside to green ones.
Jackonicko i like the elise wheel would it be a straight swap? Also i did put LED's in but only behind the main cluster. As for the other dials theres no reason why i chose the black background. Metal Monkey will do any combo you want! Cheers holty :)

Holty

Have you got a link to the white switches and cig lighter you bought off e-bay. Are they original Lotus or what had been done to them.

Cheers, Gazza

Soz Gazza i dont have a link for the switches. There from a senator( bit hard to find now) and the lighter is just a standard vauxhall fitment and easy to come by. With the senator switches the front part was slightly different but there interchangable with ours and it was straightforward if a bit fiddly ! Cheers Holty
