Needs Dark Grey Mats in US

Postby MediatorJD » Fri 15.08.2008, 14:30

Hi Guys,
Sorry to sound stupid, but I am still new here and I am confused about the price (and most other things). Did you say its about $100 USD and it will have the Lotus logo on it? I tried to buy a set from dealers in the UK but they want $70 just to ship them to me! :-#

Would love to buy some stuff on Ebay for the Lotus but ebay UK doesn't always want to ship here. ALso, does anyone have a contact for the lady who sells the driver seatbelts. I lost her email. Thank you in advance for your help.
Best Regards,
Francine

Mediator, these mats are "replicas" based on the original Elan mat size and shape. They also have the Lotus logo centered on them so they'll look a bit different than the original grey ones but still quite nice. They are available in two materials. A black "standard" material and a colored "velour" material that looks a bit more like a fine pile carpet mat. You can select the colour of the trim around the outside of the mat and logo. If you go to the seller's eBay store you can find some examples of standard and velour colours (there aren't any Elan mats shown as he's making them as we speak). Prices are:

standard quality: $65.00
velours quality: $95.00

Shipping is extra (and mentioned somwhere in the pages of this post but I can't recall just now). Ordering instructions are also in these pages but, if you are interested you'll need to orer ASAP as the group buy is basically over but until the vendor's shipped them out you may still get in on it.

I don't think he was planning to ship them until the end of the month. They aren't stock items, they have to be made up.

Thanks everyone. I did write the seller to see about getting in on the deal. I also am talking to a local guy to see if I can have him make some worst case.
Thanks!

Mediator,

If you can't get in on this group buy, another option would be Dave Bean, they were selling the OEM Lotus mats (grey, small logo) for $119 a pair in November '06.

Quick update:

Just corresponded with the vendor. he said he wasn't thrilled with the base templatre that was made for the mats so he had thm redone. The current plan is that everyone's order should be ready to go by the end of next week (give or take a few days). He'll e-mail everyone when they go out.

My cars wasn´t going without any muffler for 4 weeks. Now its back on the road with very kind help  So I was curios about the mats next and had dropped the seller a note. (Sorry elanlover for my activity  )

He answered:
Hello
We are a little late, I hope to ship them Friday or Monday,
wasn't satisfied with the first run (match to model) but ok now.
will let you know
Best regards
Wil

Although it is a little bit late, I think that sound ok. I would like more the best fitting and looking mats than a quick deal.

So I am even more curious

I just wanted you to know the latest news.

Kind regards

E-mail received from the seller late last week.

the best, but haven't after all...
They succeeded in making the small logo as the original
template you had send to us by using smaller fibre particles
and did all 7 mats with them. I don't want to keep everyone
waiting longer so shipped all but will send them a message
that if they want the large logo of which they think they will
get I will make that again for them. Only the full colour one
is made in large since that was impossible to do small.

Here are some pics - let me know

Regards
Wil

Also some pics and I believe you can search on ebay now (or visit the seller's store) and see the mats tghere. Note the inclusion of the mat retaining holes which I hadn't expected would be included. :smt023

Sorry, should have posted up sooner, mine arrived, the colour is not exactly what I expected (darker), but it seems to be a quality mat.

Thanks Blair for organising this. :smt023

No problem Ailwyn, only too happy to help. Sorry the colour was not exactly what you were expecting. Its hard to get perfect colour matches. I hope you'll be happy with them. Good to hear your collegue likes his/hers Don!

Still not received mine, and nothing heard since 6 August.

Pathetic.

The grey on black looks nice in the photos, though?

Just received mine and I'm pretty happy with them. I was a little concerned that they had not done the larger Lotus logo in the center of the mat as per their original design and discussion (see above for their e-mail saying they copied the OEM mat instead and put a smaller logo in the corner). However, I think this will actually be better. The (badly fitting) Esprit mats I had bought have this large logo and, when I tossed them out, I noticed that the logo was wearing a bit after 1 year. Having the logo off to the side will likely ensure it doesn't wear out prematurely. The fit of these mats seems quite good.

Floor mats, Very Interesting subject I bought a set from an e-bay seller that arrived with heel mat on the passenger side!!! Contacted seller and the manufacturing company very kindly sent me a replacement set again wrong, by this tme Sj Sports who I now use and are brilliant had there stock in of oem mats which arrived last week, Much better quality then the ones from e-bay and a very nice lotus isignia stiched on very smart indeed with plastic fitting that screw into the floor carpet and the mats do not move.
The biggest laugh was the company who made my first mats make the mats for Lotus and had only realised by talking to me and several photographs that the straght edge of the carpet was to the car sill. So OEM mats should have the badge towards the sill not where there are towards the transmission tunnel. Still they look great and I am very happy.
But 10 /10 for Sj always helpful and great service
