Well that was an interesting race

Really felt it for Massa as it was his team that let him down and it goes to show you that there not consistant with the penaltys they give out, as Masa got a drive through for being released in to another car which takes about 20 seconds (last time he only got a fine) but those who pitted when the pit was closed got a 10 second STOP & GO which takes approx 30 seconds :smt017 IMHO ferrari should be getting some hefty fines

Alonso drove well and had good pace after the safety car, but he fell lucky with pitting in time.

What i can`t understand is why Hammy was stuck behinde coultard for so long

Next 3 races should be good fun :-D

I was gonna have a laugh on here yesterday after Alonso broke down in Qualifying (it was funny after all)...now I'm gald I didn't..

Guess Oliver is in the pub celebrating. Must admit the guy did well, even though his stratedgy won it for him.

Funny how Massa got a penalty when it didn't matter anyhow, but doesn't get them when it would make a difference. The Ferrari debrief must have been amusing !

I do agree that a 10 second stop and go seems a bit harsh for re-fuelling when the pit lane is closed. A drive through would be fairer. I'd have loved to see a Williams win which might have happened in that case.

FANTASTICO !

This is the start of the new era.
Told you we would climb the greasy pole again.
And before you start on about strategy, remember Alonso would probably have got pole without a fuel pump failure.
And he was second fastest through the speed trap throughout p1,p2,p3,q1, with a RENAULT engine.

With Lucas Di Grassi as a team mate, and 40% more budget, i wouldn`t bet against us next year. BMW are / were a flash in the pan.

This feels like Hungary 2003 all over : Here we go again !!!! :D

Hi Chris !

Well you`ve got to make hay whilst the sun shines.

Better than the victory, Fernando had the race pace to match Ferrari and McLaren all weekend.

This bodes well for the next few races.

Now look, WELL DONE to eyebrowman, he has driven well this year, considering the car he has had, but lets not go into fantasy land Oliver, lets see if his car is any match for the big two at the rest of the circuits, & don't forget he had same machinery as Hamilton last year & got stuffed :!:

I may have missed some news but IIRC Alonso has not signed up for 2009 - with anyone. He was holding out for Ferrari but that has gone west. Fancy keeping Kimi when you could have had Alonso
Honda / Toyota are waiting with a big wad of cash - as if he needs any more

Alonso didn`t `get stuffed`: He finished on equal points with Hamilton, not bad considering Hamilton was a McLaren MP4-22 veteran / Bridgestone tyres veteran.

If Hamilton had joined Alonso at Renault instead of the other way round, I am sure Alonso would have well and truly stuffed him. Like Senna in the Toleman TG184, Alonso can make bad cars look good, I`m fairly well convinced that Hammy is a one car wonder. And Renault no longer have a bad car. So watch out.

I can`t see him in a Honda, he`s the best but surely that would be a challenge too far. As for BMW, Renault (or rather Fernando), are about to eclipse them, so i don`t see that coming off either, along with the fact that Mario Theissen would want him to sign a 5 year contract. Plus, he`s on £15m / year from Renault, the highest paid driver on the grid. That alone tells you all you need to know. Toyota, nice people i`m sure, just don`t seem to ever look as though they can be anything other than also rans, unfortunately.

From where i was sat watching all year, Hammy was in the same car & was by far the better driver. If hammy & Mclaren hadn't messed up in the last few races he would of been world champ & had a lot more points than Alonso.

Lets look at the facts, not what we think :-
1) Hammy's only been in F1 two seasons, & in his 1st season he beat the reigning world champ who was driving the same car !, in fact Alonso was that rattled he got the FIA to watch & make sure he got the same treatment . Also, if Mclaren ( & Hammy ) hadn't messed up in the last few races, he would of been world champ, beating Alonso by quite a few points.
2) In his 2nd season, he is leading the world championship, even though the FIA has tried its best to rob him ( or Mclaren ) at every available chance.
3) There is no evidence Hammy is a one car wonder.

No one who watches F1 can deny Alonso is a very good driver, & Renault has done well at the end of this season, but next years cars are totally new, so who knows who's gonna be at the top, but money usually talks in F1. I really hope Renault gets back to being in the top flight, it makes the races more exciting, & i appreciate Alonso's driving skills, what i don't appreciate ( or forgive ) about him was/is the fact he was unloyal to Mclaren.

Well Hammy blown that race at the 1st corner  Maybe he just doesn`t want to win the championship :smt081

Well done to Alonsa, drove a great race for Reno and stayed out off trouble, but yet again he benifits from the Ferrari and Mclaren antics  Just hope Reno and other teams are more competitive next year to make a great 2009 season.

When Massa took out Hammy i just thought that should off at least been a 10 sec stop & go rather than a drive through, as he made contact with another car which ended up at the back off the grid. That to me is saying that rather than getting a penalty for trying to avoid contact by cutting the chicane is to take out your competitor :smt018

Then on the F1 website just found out Bourdais has got a 25 sec penalty for when Massa touched him and spun out after Bourdais came out off the pits but he had the inside line and he`s racing for position & for points, so what the :censored: was Bourdais suppose to do? let him go by  yeah right, it`s called F**king racing you bunch off P**ks.

With F2 next year i can see less & less people watching F1 :(

Fernando Alonso : `The car was perfect`

Alonso wasn`t bad either. No rookie mistakes from the best driver. :poke:

We would easily overhaul BMW now. It is great having the speed to win again.

At first i thought Hammy desirved that Drive through penalty but if you look at the footage again, hammy just out braked him self but it was actually Kovalainen who actually squeezes Raikonnen off. So seeing that footage again IMHO Hammy should not off got a penalty as that was just racing  does make you think about the FIA & Ferrari conspiracy

Okay, I`ll cut Hamilton some slack. He and Massa are making pressure mistakes, but with Renaults new found pace, if Ferrari or McLaren make errors, Alonso will be in a position to capitalise, as Renault now have more consistant pace, and are just plain quicker, than BMW.

I reckon Alonso can win again on either of the remaining tracks, but I reckon Interlagos could be a good track for him.

I just hope this statement by Alonso isn`t True as i was just getting to like the guy :?

Renault driver Fernando Alonso says he will do all he can to help Ferrari's Felipe Massa win this year's championship.

"Yes, no doubt, if I can help, I will help Massa," Alonso was quoted as saying by AS newspaper following his victory in the Japanese Grand Prix.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/71379

Here`s a good vid and quote i got off Piston Heads, which shows the inconsistencies with the penaltys they dish out

Especially for those who have short memories.

Here's a good video to show how stupid F1 has got this year with penalties being dished out for trying to overtake people.

Funnily enough it's Fuji, last year. Massa Vs Kubica (Robert don't ever complain about pushing other you off the track again you whinging Pole).

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jZWJzFsuC2I

Although Massa did most of the pushing it's seems his bright red Ferrari could not been seen through all the spray by the stewards. And Kubica cut so many corners not yeilding to Massa's car.

2008 has been a joke.

Alonso is talking about helping Massa only because as he now has the speed to intefere with Ferrari and McLarens race, he is doing what he does second best, after racing, that is playing mind games.

Hamilton is on the verge of cracking, Alonso knows this so he is indulging in a bit of gamesmanship.

If Ron Dennis and Hamilton want to win a championship or two, the best policy would be to keep quiet, stop whining and moaning, and let the winning do the talking. It is just something that they can`t manage to do.

And I also think that the R28, with Alonso driving, now has the raw pace to win on it`s own merit.

If you think thats gamesmanship Oliver then you`re even more smaller minded than i actually thought you were :poke: After that statement by Alonso he`s getting a right slatting on Piston heads (and i`m sure across the world) even by people who liked him, he`ll only find him self with no drive if he`s not carefull.

Personley i don`t think you are an F1 fan just a bias Reno supporter or even know what word sportsmanship means , F1 is going down hill with views like yours.
It`s getting like football, it`s all about back stabbing and money. Bring back the good old days when teams would even help each other out if they come unstuck say for a part or something and when drivers had character and could speak there mind

Think it`s time F1 should have everyone in the same car, same engine, fuel to the end off the race but can pit for tyres only to bring every team on the same playing field to see who`s got the real talent.

All IMHO of course :smt081
