PiperRS 2.25" or 2.5" Exhaust for all M100s

Hello all,

further updates to excite you more about your impending systems.

The 2.5" system is now finished so we are going to start on the 2.25" system now. Here are some pics and a video of the finished 2.5" system. This one has a silencer in the front section.

It is worth noting that this system is an absolute pig to fit. Its not an easy job by any means due to lack of access and the rubbers being very awkwardly placed. Their is a nack to getting it fitted and this will be included in the fitting guide that Ailwyn and myself shall make. I still think you will need a set of ramps to get this fitted.

The only concern i`d have is on the rear silencer hitting the lower wishbone when going over bumps etc. This happened with my Peco and it ended up damaging the rubber boot on the ball joint for the anti rollbar, i eneded up adjusting the exhaust system so the rear silencer sat further to the rear bumper.

If the 5x8 muffler is located UP within the underbody moulding (where it should be) then you can use a 17" long muffler body which extends forwards until it just clears the rollbar. That would be a muffler about 3" longer than the one in his picture, which appears to be a 14" muffler. 17" is the length of the OE muffer.

Their is loads of clearance between the wishbone and the silencer. I will try and get a picture of the clearance for you We took it for a spirited test drive over some local bumpy roads and did not hear any knocking and the system is mounted rigidly. Will get some more pictures up if i can

We have managed to keep the cost down to what we first expected it to be so are now taking pre orders for these. If anyone wants one added to their order then just give me a call and i shall get one made up for you. These are priced at £94.00 (£80.00 + vat).

If you do not have ramps, i would say quite hard as access is a bit tight. As long as the studs come loose tho it should be fine.

I believe Piper do ceramic coating, best try and get a price for that.

Although judging by the mountings you may be able to re-attach the original heat shields... perhaps Garry can confirm?

No it will not be im afriad.

If you wanted we could get them thermal coated, but this would cost around £140.00 on top of the price of the PCE.

Any chance we can have a close up of the exhaust and proper revving/drive by sound?

I'd be interested for sure if it sounds a little smoother than the PECO which I find is a little lumpy...
How much to make and fit this system to one of our cars. I have an S2!

Yeah, its the dodgy camera we have here. The car was reving to 5500 rpm in the video, but your right, it does not show a true representation of its sound. The best bet would be for other members to either take footage of it once fitted or to comment on the sound them selves

Well at the risk of being accused of "brown tongueing" again ( ), I reckon it looks brilliant!
The mounting points to the side of the block and for the lower heat-shields are further than I've seen anyone develop before, and the lower overall mass will make it less necessary to have them anyway, because the part won't store/radiate as much heat.
Garry, as a matter of interest do you have any scales to compare the weight of the original to yours?
Oh, just one other thing - on the original there is a recess for a metal washer to compress into at the bottom. Of course, this is surplus to requirements when you fit a larger bore downpipe to the pre-cat housing (it just falls down the pipe), but that can leave you with precious little flat surface to make the seal.
Question is, when selling 2 1/4" and 2 1/2" systems and (I assume) a "one size fits all PCE", how will you ensure that the flanges can mate securely enough to prevent blowing?

Chris, I found the upper ones didn't require too much force to remove when I split mine, so they should be re-useable.
The biggest problem is access to them.
The lower ones will be dead simple as it looks like it will just be 2 flat triangular holey flanges.
In other words 3 short cuts of threaded bar, 6 nuts and possibly a few spring washers should do nicely.
