A Post/Pillar Seals Available from Lotus!

Postby Sy V » Thu 23.10.2008, 15:38

Here is the text of an e-mail I've just received from Neil Lovelock (Aftersales Manager at Hethel).

" <<B100V0117F & 118F A Pillar Seals.pdf>>
Gents

Elan A Pillar seals have been on resource for a long time now, well good news we finally have cracked it and they will be in stock by next week.

We've reduced the price too from £122.33 each + vat (£143.74 inc) when last available in 2005, to just £63.82 + vat each that equals £150 per pair inc vat near 1/2 original.

We have had to take 450 car sets into stock so ask kindly for as much support as you can give to help advertise/promote this resource.

Simon this is news you and the Elan Central members have been waiting for please can you get it on the forum!"

You now know as much as me. Good news eh!

Is there a list i can add me name too yet?

Do we order direct?

(or are we still looking for someone to co-ordinate it?)

Dare I suggest people don't go buying multiple sets in order to have spares (anticipating future shortages). It would suck for them to have finally gotten these, and then to have anybody in need unable to get them because others are hording.

Fantastic. Are they still made of cheese or have they remanufactured them in something more durable this time?

Where do we order? Direct from Lotus Aftersales ?

Chris.

My next question is, now what about intermediate and falling pillar seals?

Don't you have a Lotus dealer in Texas? I don't need A-pillar seals, since I just paid a bit more than that for a pair a few months ago, but if I did, there's a Lotus dealer in Memphis, and I'm also in Atlanta fairly often. Surely San Antonio or Dallas/Fort Worth has one?

I think there is one in San Antonio and I am sure there is one in Dallas and Houston. There was one in Austin but I am not sure if they are still around: http://www.autostradausa.com/

If you want to buy a couple of sets thats not a problem. they have 450 sets overall. More than enough (one would hope).

As stated before ordering is through your dealer using parts numbers B100V0117F & 118F as Sy said above. This should be available throughout the world dealer network.

In regards to aftermarket seals, lets not forget all Lotus parts are covered by warranty (hence my new alternator, starter motor and battery for free just recently).

I know Lotus have struggled with these parts. Getting them right has been an absolute bugger as one batch were too stiff and the next too soft. But they seem to have nailed it now and at a superb price as well!!. In part thanks to LEC's building relationship with the factory and the constant pressure put on parts to get some in.

It also reaffirms Lotus's commitment to their classic cars and supplying essential, obsolete parts.

Good news.
