Is that because you're only using "left-handed websites" at the moment?!?
Hope you're well on the road to recovery now.
Oh and by the way, lock out your phone's keypad when going for a stroll (check recently dialled records and you'll see what I mean)!

Thats weird because the keypad was locked!?!

Anyway I was back in hospital Yesterday to be re X-rayed and now I've got a cast on rather than the support thing I had on before. Annoyingly I cant drive or fly and using the computer is a pain. On the upside I've got a further three weeks off work (will have been five in total).

Mine arrived too.

Unfortunately I'm still offshore, bobbing about on a floating Oil Rig in 60 foot waves.

Desided to unwrapped the exhaust....

That looks brillant and shiney...

one thing that's noticeable is the offset on the tail pipe I bet that's a tight fit...

Also the Girlie gets upset when you play it like a trumpet in the living room.. :-D

Good skills to the fellas at folkstone ...

Re: PiperRS 2.25" or 2.5" Exhaust for all M100s

Postby Breed » Mon 27.10.2008, 16:25

Picked up the car with a 2.25" Piper exhaust and done about 80 miles and so far very happy, now sounds like a sports car should. The sound is deep and hardly noticed on cruising but gets nicely louder on acceleration. Also has the best looking tail pipe i have seen on a Elan it fills the opening and, to me, looks just right. I have the 2.25 with pre cat only fitted to a S2, although I did buy a sportscat to put in just in case. Still only get .5 boost but the car feels more responsive, although i have not wrung its neck yet, taking it bit by bit to see if i get the dreaded turbo overboost, checked that the inertia seat belts work in anticipation. Have hit over 6500 revs in 2nd and it sounded great. Can somebody let me know when overboost is most likely to happen?
By the way I am 61, probably younger than most of you, and I do not think it is noisy.
Gary said he will start sending the 2.25 exhausts out in in a day or so.

Thanks

Bill,

Overboost is most likely to occur at wide open throttle around 4-5k rpm.

If you've still got the pre-cat then overboost is unlikely (although not impossible) due to the restriction it places on the exhaust flow.

Indeed, and I'd add to that: in 3rd, 4th or 5th, and risk of it is increased if going uphill at the time.

Hi Breed,
How about recording a sound track of the new exhaust - for those of us not yet received our system?

Re: PiperRS 2.25" or 2.5" Exhaust for all M100s

Postby ailwyn » Tue 28.10.2008, 13:07

Garry,

I was a little disappointed yesterday to find that there are no mounting bolts/nuts for attaching the exhaust to the PreCat/PCE.

These will likely be rusted solid for most so won't be re-useable.

Do you know the correct size nuts/bolts and would you be able to supply (out of goodwill would be nice, but for a small fee otherwise)?

I'm also after a 2.5" triangular gasket if you can supply that too (might be worth including as part of future kits with the ring for the stock precat as some people will have already gone for custom PCEs/downpipes).

Thanks

Ailwyn

We did not supply these as it was assumed that most would be fitted to fit to a standard Pre cat and the existing studs and seal type would be used.

We do advise you get new nuts in our fitting instructions (as you say, the standard ones will be quite corroded). We decided to not supply these and advised you source them yourselves as of the 2 sample Pre cats we had here, one on Bills car and one on the sample sent by Neil, they both had different threads. It is safer to either re use the existing nuts if not heavily corroded or get new ones from Lotus.

If future customer would like me to send a Triangular gasket for fitment to a PCE then just advise so at the point of ordering.

Sorry you were not 100% satisfied with the exhaust Ailwyn.

Were happy to help.
Kind Regards

No worries. It nice when a plan comes together and in this case working with this forum has been a silky smooth process :)

In a couple of weeks I will have had the product photo shoot done to get the studio shots of these systems. With that done i can create a thread for reference with all the information on these systems with pictures and prices etc. Maybe the mods could make it a sticky in the exhaust section.

Also, im not sure if i have mentioned this already but all these systems will only be avaliable via the LEC. We shall not be listing this on our website or in our catalogue :)
