Cheers,

Geoffers,

Slack cut.

I could do with a little slack from some directions myself, rather than having the worst motives automatically assumed.

I don't know if Gareth or Ailwyn wants to scan those of my articles that you don't have - (I don't own a scanner!) but whoever wants to is of course welcome.

Martin,

Yes please! Many thanks. I'll pop my details in a PM.

Hi,

For anyone that may be interested, I am the proud new owner of this motor. The £3500 price tag was reflecting the fact that the car has some cat C accident damage on its history, Lotus dealer wanted £4100 to replace 1 back wing, off side rear lights and bumper - the Billingshurst dealership mentioned in the classic car weekly report specialise in buying repossessed / cat C written off vehicles and putting them back on the road a lot cheaper than a main dealer. As for my Lotus, you wouldn't know by looking that it had ever been damaged, they did a superb job and supplied me with photos of before, during and after the repair. The only other expenses I have had since buying her in December was to replace the hood as the original had seen better days, and I had some spray work done to the front end to get rid of stone chips and a small section of damaged lacquer. The car now looks in A1 condition and with just 65000 miles on the clock it still drives like a dream and the engine looks brand new, if the history isn't a concern (as it's not to me) then I feel I've got a bargain, similar condition and mileage cars are selling on Ebay for £6000+ !

I have printed the scanned photos (many thanks Martin) but would love to get hold of the original copy of Classic Car Weekly if anyone still has it.

I've only been a member of this superb site for a few days and already finding it invaluable, many thanks to all.

Cheers

Welcome, Hoblands,

As long as you're not planning to sell, and as long as you have a good insurer, Cat C shouldn't matter.

VERY interesting to see the photos of the car before it was repaired, many thanks, just out of interest, is there a way of finding out what was paid for it?

Cheers

Paul

(I was going to upload a couple of pics to show the cars condition now but keep getting told the files are too big - any ideas?)

Hi Paul,

Great to hear that the Elan has passed into the ownership of an enthusiast, and is now receiving the TLC that it deserves :D

As you've discovered, there are restrictions on both the physical size and pixel dimensions that apply when you try to load images/files onto the forum.

Here's a link to the page where these limits are specified.........

Cheers,

Martin.
