It took several phone calls/emails and an email with the list of calipers to get them to wake up, plus the mention of how do you want paid seemed to have the biggest effect.
I was suposed to get a phone call this morning but need less to say that never happened so I called them in the afternoon.
There will be some delay as the calipers need to have "special" levers made up for the hand brake cables + some colours take longer than others some thing to do with batches.
I estimate it will take 2/3 weeks to get this order together but allowing for Christmas we should see the kits ready for the first/second week in the new year.

Hi Spec are not what you would call a switched on company!!!!!!!!!!!

I had sent them a list of what was required, heard nothing from them so took a trip to see them to see if any progress had been made.
Well what do you know, nothing had happened since my last conversation with them.

I have at last got the order progressed a little how far it actually goes is anyones guess but I will keep on at them as it seems that is the only way this ever going to progress.
You would think as this is an order for a number of calipers they would be a little more keen than they have been todate lets hope my visit has had some effect.!!!

Update as to current position.

Fronts calipers are ready for collection so will pick up Friday and check them against what has been ordered.
Those that have ordered only the fronts I will endeavour to get your kits out next week.
As for the rears I am still waiting on Jeff at Hi Spec sorting out the levers so they suit out handbrake cables (nipple end) plus I wanted the position of the cable actuation in a particular orientation (similar to the current rear caliper)
Once the levers are sorted it should not take them to long (I hope) to get the calipers produced.

I hope to pick up a dummy rear caliper Friday to check the clearances on the space saver and sort out the final bits like a return spring for the hand brake cable and to check the final positioning of the caliper on the hub carrier etc.

I now have all the front calipers and will get them off to people who need them as some are only upgrading the fronts.
If any one wants the fronts before the rears are ready please advise and I will try to get them off to you within the next week or so (still got some of the brackets to finish)

With referance to the space saver

The space saver will fit up to and including a 260mm x 24mm thick disk, I have checked it with a caliper and a 256mm disc and there is more than enough clearance.

In all the research I did with Brian to get a Wilwood rear caliper upgrade it was abundantly clear that the space saver was not going to fit at all. Now, if you can tell me that it will fit on the rear kit you're making for me then I might just have to fly over there and kiss your a$$. Just your a$$ though. There are "some" lines i just won't cross.

This was only relevant for the rear as all front upgrades are far too large to allow the space saver to fit.
I think the trick is if you have a flat on the front, is to be able to transfer a rear to the front and fit the space saver to the rear.
Unfortunately this does not apply to Elanlover as your rear calipers are on 273mm discs so I guess is a case of carry a full size spare (assuming you can get a 17” rim in the boot) or can of puncture repair with you and have breakdown cover if you want to be 100% certain. Mind you in many years and 10’s of thousands of miles I have only had one puncture while driving, several while car has been parked but only one on the road so the odds are good you will never get one.

It looks like Hi-spec have finally got around to making the rear calipers and they should be ready for collection in about a couple of weeks time. Knowing Hi-spec that may slip so I am not holding my breath but at least they are making progress.

I should have my end done by then and will get the kits off as they are ready for dispatch.
If anyone want to wait untill Donington please advise and I should be able to get some off via Phil/Geoff

Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Slip is an understatement, been trying to get an answer out of them since last week and Roy did not return my calls but at last got a sort of answer today (Friday)
Some of the rear calipers should be ready for collection mid part of next week so I can complete the final mounting position (60 holes to drill and tap) which will mean some of these kits should go out the door week after next.
