Right thats everything confirmed. I've booked a table for five at 13:30 although I can change numbers if anybody else wants to come or anybody drops out.

Also I've now managed to patch my borrowed gear cables (Thanks Neil) well enough that I've got all my gears and with any luck my new cables would have arrived and be fitted by Sunday. :-D

Dico has not been to collect any parts yet. I was hoping to join you on Sunday with said parts, but this is now a no-no. Sorry chaps. I will give Dico a call tomorrow.

The good lady has to go into hospital on Thursday to undergo surgery for a pro-lapsed disc.

Yep, all is set. I'm looking forward to it.

Its been Pee'ing it down all day and I made the mistake of trying to drive across the airfield turned bog today. My car is now mud brown.

Gareth,
I hope the forcasted snow didn't happen for you, do you think you can make it?

Neil,
If you didn't get your alternator fixed I can give you a lift if you want.

Nope, still not sorted, but I've not given up hope just yet.
I'll have another blast at it tomorrow morning (rain or no rain), and if I don't get it done in time then I guess I'll just have to take the Pug.

Mine has 2000 miles of road dirt on it from my weekend trip to Marseille, but she wears it as a badge of honour. Or something :P

Hope you get it fixed Neil.

Ugh! Tell me about it, the salt and crap on the road this time of year soon plasters the car, I'd hate to have 2k miles of the stuff on her. :|

Still 1 mile driving across a muddy rutted field can soon add a coat of brown, I had to follow the ruts as I couldn't steer and had constant wheel spin the entire time. I should have driven around the outside on the road and come in from the other side avoiding all the mud unfortunately once I started I had no choice but to carry on.

OK, If we are going to do a January meet which I believe from the success of the first one I think we should. We need to start looking at where and when.

I believe we were looking at the second Sunday of each month which would make it Sunday the 11th around 13:00 again? Any ideas of where to try this time, maybe somewhere that serves a bit more normal food rather than a curry for lunch .

Unless my timing belt and water pump arrive in the post tomorrow, AND the weather's reasonable enough to fit them in time, AND I can get along to the arrangements that are yet to be arranged, then as far as I'm concerned - bugger all!

I was expecting January being a bit difficult for people. I think we need to be looking at February, so that makes it Sunday 1st or 8th.

I think we should try another venue as well, I dont know where though for this time of year. I have been having some ideas for summer though including these:

Hardwick Inn By the gates of Hardwick Hall
&
The Hutt By the gates of Newstead Abbey

The Hutt's very nice, and only about 7 miles from me, so I can make that one even if I have to cycle there!
(No I haven't got a Lotus bicycle)

Haven't been to the Hutt for many years... but I seem to remember that it was a nice pub... and it's certainly not short of parking spaces :!:

The Hardwick Inn's just a couple of miles down the road from me. Whenever I've been there, the beer and food have been very good.... and the lane that runs from the motorway junction down to the pub is also a nice little drive (....or cycle, should Neil want to work up an appetite :D )

I'm up for either/both venues.... and as for dates, the 1st and 8th of Feb are both (currently) OK for me.

Cheers,

Martin.
