Just out of interest, I got a quote off the internet for a single track day's insurance from Moris. The quote was £40 less an early booking discount of £12 plus an administration fee of £4.95. So a total of £32.95 for the day. Doesn't seem too bad to me?

I'll think about it over the holidays and make a decision then. Any of you experienced track dayers prepared to ride shotgun for me for a couple of laps?

Hi Roland
Most of us are fairly new to the track so you'll be in good company. You'll not have a problem- its a helluva lot easier than Deansgate in the rush hour. We do a couple of laps behind the marshal before we go for it.
Moris are very reasonable and we have used them before.

Just a quick one and not one to want to worry anyone but some circuits can be very hard on the car and its not speed and barriers that are main worry but the condition and age of certain bits of the car and its ability to do a few quick laps and then drive it home with out gaffer tape and cable ties holding it together.

Best thing would be to come out with one of us or maybe follow for a few laps. However i'm more than happy to come out with you if you would like. Remember you are in control so you can push yourself and the car as far as you dare. The only word of warning is that they say that track days are more addictive that coke!

Now pedantic is a very good word.
Although the isle of man is not part or ever been in the u.k. it was technically under viking rule and controlled from dublin and york and the actual manx parliament dates from 1079 A.D.and still follows princibles from the norsemen.
More interesting facts.
1.Trailer caravans are not allowed without a permit.
2.It has 24 hour opening for hotels and clubs.
3.In 1870 the Isle of Man railway company was formed.
4.The ferry service has been known as the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company since 1832.

Any spaces left on this event? Looks like I may have repaired all of the damage I did to my engine on the '07 IOM visit by July. Be nice to get over there again even if I have to rent an elise or take the dull repmobile.

Return Liverpool 1530 Monday 13th July 2009 - the later departure gives us an extra 3/4 day driving on the island.

Track day for those interested with Duke track days at Jurby on Sunday 12th July 2009- provisionally booked for 6 cars.

Ferry £195
Hotel £45/night for a single; £75 twin or double.
Track day about £70
The increased costs of the ferry and hotel are due to the time of year.

NOW PAY ATTENTION- the hotel are only reserving these rooms for the next week or so. The sooner you do something about it the better. There are other events on this weekend and the hotels will fill up quite soon as the other events are already advertised. They may also provide us with additional entertainment- its the Manx International Car Rally.
