I was going to ask you to leave mine next to the bin ('cos nobody will be at home), but Wednesday is bin day and knowing my luck... can we go for behind the pot plants adjacent to the vestibule door, please.

Well, when me dad built it, he called it a porch. But he always said I was a pretentious prick; and you know 'ow posh we am in the black country!

Well, this wasn't an option when i first got in on this one, so i have already sent enough money to cover the postage, but if it ends up at your house, it ain't going to be the end of the world .........

.....(red car still off the road as a type this, but looking hopefull now that I have painted the door this morning - just got to let the paint cure fully, then strip the old door out, re-fit the bits into the new one, then fit the door, adjust the window to fit the new 'A' post seals (which ain't fitted yet), adjust the hood to fit the window, paint the 'A' panel, fit it up etc etc etc - may be on the road by Easter :? )
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Yes, they assure me 1st week in Feb. Once the first batch are all confirmed, I'll cut the list back to just the next batch and start afresh.

I'm proposing that the 2nd batch will all be with plugs & fitting kits, for a total of £66/pair - Postage if required will be another £9.

Any feedback / comments from the 1st batch would be gladly received.

Gordon,
Safely received today - many thanks - fans look just the job but now to figure out how to fit them - is there a preferred method?

I think the only point worth stressing is to be VERY gentle with the nuts holding the old fans on... put some penetrating oil of some kind (I favour PlusGas, but which ever you prefer) on all the nuts, and let it do it's work - a few times ideally before even trying one of the nuts.

They're 8mm hex (m5 studs) - I sheared one off before I learnt to be careful, but that was not the end of the world, as I was taking the rad out anyway, and it was on the lower support frame.

If you were to shear one of the top studs, I can imagine the air becoming a little blue :censored:

Once the old fans are out, if they're scrap, please salvage the old plugs, as the casing and seals are quite salvagable and can be recycled for the next batch! (or am I just being tight here?!)

The grommets can be a little trickey to fit to the new fans - pop them in a mug of boiling water for a few mins, they pop in quite easy then.

I turned all the fan motors round 90deg so the wires come straight down, and trimmed the case just a wee bit top & bottom, so I'm hoping they will all be a perfect fit!...

Best of luck,

Gordon

Before fitting these, could somebody (GEOFF) please tell us how to wire them with a manual on/off switch option.
In words, please Mr Smith 'cos wiring diagrams mean the square root of Football Association to some of us with a more artistic bent.
