2009 May international event in Holland, CANCELLED

Lotus Club Holland will organize in 2009 from May 21 until May 25 an international event. All members from International Lotus Clubs will be welcome during this event. The event will have a fantastic program in/around Amsterdam and North Holland. It will also contain a roundtrip by canalboat through the Amsterdam canals and a race on the circuit of Zandvoort. More information will be available soon on the site.

Le club Hollandse de Lotus aura le plaisir d,organiser en 2009 en mai le 21 jusqu,au 25 un evenement international. Tous les membres internationaux de Lotus seront les bienvenus à cet evenement. Cela aura un programme extraordinaire á et autour Amsterdam et au nord d'hollande. Il contiendra également un tour en bateau par les canaux d,Amsterdam et une visite du circuit de Zandvoort. Just a small correction: there will be a visit to the Zandvoort circuit, not a race. This was a mistake in the translation on the website of our Dutch club.

A shame about the cancellation.

Of the various nationalities I met along my pilgrimage (\Camino de Santiago, spring 2008) the Dutch were some of the pleasant and happy people that I met. It would have been a wonderful gathering.

The event was a nice collection of events trough one weekend! But my idea is that "it is/was wayto expencive".

If I made some calculations and the weekend will cost me ~1.250 euro's ... and I'm +-300km from the starting point.
Calculate futher destinations so also bigger costs for the most other european Lotus owners...
I think the most people will chose for a 10 trip into a 5 star hotel to the Dominican Republic for the same price

That's a shame, I was tempted, but why so expensive ?

How much could it cost to throw a tent in the boot, get a 100 euro ferry ticket over and drive up there and back - was the event itself going to be expensive?

What is the allure of the Dominican Republic? I saw many ads for vacations when I was in Spain. Very few from the USA go there. I'm beginning to think I'm missing something.

Sorry to confirm that Lotusclub Holland had to cancel the event.

Quote: "Unfortunately we have to cancel the International Event from May 21 to May 24. The number of registration remained behind expectations. In relation with the necessary reservations for the Hotel, circuit of Zandvoort, the boat, etc, it was no longer possible to wait."

Hope to be able to meet some of you guys overhere in Holland anyhow somewhere in the near future.
