But in the end it will all come down to VALUE FOR MONEY. not just the cheapest.

Yes , exactly which is why I think an existing product available with some mods may be a good solution, generally an AVO product will
be more competitive on price than the Bilstein, but possibly not as good for longevity and maybe performance? but I also think the Bilstein and Eibach set up sounds like it's more track biased and the AVO shock I think can be modyfied especially with a different coil spring set up to produce an acceptable ride with better body control than standard.

People could then choose which products to go for, especially when we know what they have been designed for EG: If we can get the AVO set up say 10-15% stiffer than standard, and the Billy/Eibach is 40% stiffer than it will become easier for people who track and people who drive on roads to choose. Costs will also dictate the descision of course.

I just need to get the top mounts made, which thinking out loud, if the Eibach springs (On tyhe other thread) are to be 2.25ID then this top mount would also suit the AVO.

Does anybody have any spare front springs (SE) and also the top mount ?

If so I can arrange a courier to collect these and return once the spec has been clarified.

OK, quick update............

I won't be keeping eager people in the dark like some, no names mentioned........ there are people out there that want better suspension and all questions relevant to shock absorbers and springs, and associated components will be answered. If eastenders is mentioned, thats a defo off topic direction!!!

The top mounts I will look at getting designed and made, and in 2 versions because the Bilstein and Eibach thread is just a list, nothing can be asked or answered about the components proposed, or thought about or jotted down on a fag packet etc........

The 2 types of mounts:

1. With compliance for road use
2. For track use

It's not what , but who you know......We've got the Polybush factory here in Wrexham and I've got buddies who work in F1 cnc machine shops....etc

Between these two and more we should be able to make both types of mounts possibly from one design to suit the 2.25" ID coil, the road version hopefully with an additional poly or rubber bush to dampen road noise and vibrations, and the track orientated version possibly with a spherical bearing? (this has better control than a rubber version but more harshness as it metal to metal)

I'm still looking for an original front spring and complete top mounting assembly??..............Anyone !!

I've got the full rear assemblies as mentioned.

I'm Flat chat at work....so my progress may be a little steady but at least a few questions with AVO have made some progress so far and we now know the scoop on the SJ Springs.
It's frustrating this for me, because I used to do this as a full time profession and if I was still doing it....... I'd have a full set of shocks and springs finished within a week ! It' s so easy when you know how to ride a bike, you just get on and go...!!

Really?

Nice to see you've joined the forum at 5.00am this morning and your first post is so kind !

Ok, It's best to ask the question then and make a list, before I waste any more time:
(If there's is no interest mr. tree rot, I'll go KW on my car with xiphias and dump this development!)

Is there any interested parties that would be interested in purchasing a complete shock absorber and spring assembly, manufactured by AVO ?
(Yes they already produce one, but we can change the specs to accomadate at least 3 different types of customer requirements)

These should be priced more competitive than anything from Bilstein & Eibach.

For example 3 set specs could be made available for:

1. As original or marginally (5%) stiffer than the stock set up
2. 20% stiffer, but with an acceptable ride quality
3. 50 - 75% stiffer for track day use ONLY.

The damping values, and the spring rates can be changed when they are made , all 3 varients would be based on the body than AVO produce now, the strut bodies are spring platform adjustable so you can have the ride height set as original, or 5, 10, 15, 20mm etc lower......if you want? To a point where the arch clearance and rubbing will become apparant, and the wheel & tyre contact geometry will change. Running as low as you can with no implications may be the ideal critria for the track day people's activities.

Interest List (No commitment , no purchase, no group buy)
just put "X" if you want to remain anonimous......

One thing I do Find intresting is the lowering aspect...

it's well documented that Lotus added 25mm quite late in developement...

How would you address the pottential problems with going back the other way?

I also find it funny that over 20 odd years ago Miles and Shepherd often disagreed as which way to go...and still the debate continues(But I do agree.... all BRGs should be yellow)

I still dont understand this list.....

no commitment, no purchase, no group buy......

so what is going on.....is it just a wish list....????

what do we have so far?..
no research, no development, no initiative??????

Im just confused about putting my name on a list that just isnt going to happen, that I might not want, that I dont have to buy and that gets no discount....

Not to put words in anyone's mouth but I got the impression that this was just a list to gauge interest in general. Hopefully, with the understanding that all the details, once published, could eliminate everyone or generate even more interest.

All this guy seems to get is a load of bollocks from a few people on here. Including 2 people creating new accounts just to make fun. I don't agree with everything thats said but I wish we would just encourage him to get on with it. How many others are bothering their arses.

I want new suspension and I'm interested in all the threads and when the upgrades are complete I will decide between them.

If I was this guy "I would take my ball home"
