Ok, are they using 2.5"ID race coils then ?

Or are they intent on using springs exactly the same inside diameter as the originals ? and hence utilise the original top mount ?

Only I thought I read on this thread they were set to use race coils, unless they are the 1.9ID springs ?

Are they still going to be able to offer the part road part track day, more track day, and and full race set up ?

? :?

Do I sense a drift off topic (again) here, I do hope not? A PM might have been more appropriate.

There was information on the sort of modifications that need to be made to the top mount in the original thread, first post page 4 copied below to save the effort of trawling through the reasons why I locked that thread. The ID of the spring has not been specified in the forum as far as I can see, but I would expect Eibach to be working in metric rather than Imperial units.

Another part of this that has to be taken into consideration is the spring/damper top mount

As the top of a race spring is ground flat and is smaller in diameter it will not fit the standard top mount so a new top mount to replace the compliant rubber seat will be needed. I am inclined towards an aluminium spring carrier but as this will transmit more road noise a polyurethane one could be substituded or some other material.

The damper top mount may also be an issue with the hardcore track day cars and it may be better in this instance to replace not only the rubber seat but also the abutment which could carry a spherical bearing to hold the top of the damper replacing the rubber bushes.

These parts are not in either Eibach or Bilstiens brief and would need to be produced seperatly, not that any of the above is expensive or difficult to produce.

Now lets keep this thread on topic please.

:agree:

This thread is more about seeing if we have enough interest to get Lotus involved, more than the nitty gritty of what goes where etc.

how much interest is required before the project is moved to the next stage? Not being pushy, just want to keep the momentum going.
Could the 'Hokey-Cokey' actually be what it's all about?

Chris,

I was intouch with Bob today asking the same thing, he`s busy with the rear brake upgrade and wants that out off the way before he moves on to the suspension.
There seems to be plenty off interest and i`m sure Bob will be carring on with this project :-D

Patience my friend. For the Jedi it is time to eat as well.

I'm sure Bob will get back to this a little too soon for my wallet :-D

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all this sort of thing is done in peeps own time. Besides its Bob's fault he shouldn't be such an expert :P I have a track day in May so if something could be turned out by then that would be great
