I've installed the windblocker. Pictures are in my thread under major projects. One issue that has been raised before is that the top of this kind of windblocker ends up beint right in the middle of your view in the rear-view mirror. I have that problem too. I have come up with two solutions, not involving having the thing mounted on a track that allows it to be easily raised or lowered. The first is "live with it." It is annoying, and at certain distances in trail, it can completely block the view of a following vehicle. Of course, a look in the side mirror will show a clear view of a car that far back anyway. On the bright side, I noticed tonight, that the same thing that is annoying in the daylight, is a huge positive at night. Instead of not seeing a car behind me, I see it, but it's headlights don't shine in the mirror. The cars behind me can have their high-beams on, and I'm not affected at all by it. The second solution, which I'm now testing for a few days, is just to push the mirror up as high as its mounting will allow, changing the viewing angle so that the top of the windblocker is now almost out of view. I'm now looking over it when I look into the mirror. I'll let you know in a few days how that works out.

Looks good and so cheep. We fitted the MX5 derivative at the weekend. I think because the side brackets are slightly longer then the one you have fitted and yours looks taller then ares anyway we don't seem to have the same rear view issues that your having. The only issue we had was that the brackets that fit to the car. The fixing holes would be better placed if they ran vertical instead of horizontal. The way owners are the off side wholes line up just on the bend of the back panel. Which doesn't give you a lot to fix to. If the second hole was under the first it wouldn't be an issue. We still prefer the push in and pull out aspect of the MX5 derivative. I have just noticed your is an MX5 derivative as well. Hows that they look different fittings unless yours is for a latter model. We have the one with the two prongs that push into two fixed brackets. Which are quick release. Max & Andy

I chose a dark color kevlar for when I want more privacy safety, without that annoying feeling of getting shot!

I have a Classic Additions one fitted on the S2. Being tall, the top on that one was also right in the middle of the rear view mirror. I took the supplied brackets and drilled another 6mm hole at the far end, turned them upside down and refitted. It lifted the screen to clear the mirror view, still has adequate clearance for hood operation and doesn't appear to alter the stability, function or appearance.

hi mick,

dont know if this helps but i built a lotus 7 kit car and used plexiglass to make the side windows...it didnt scratch too much and was flexible so it didnt shatter in the cold.
