Cash is tight at the moment so unable to commit to the group buy, but will probably be after some in the future.

Yes, they have to be metal because the hole is too small for a standard rubber one.

I think they are used on motorcycles - I bought mine from sj sports - not cheap.

I'm opting out of this as with the shipping it is considerably more costly. It costs $100USD just to have a wheel repaired & refinished, and looking at it in that light the original Lotus aftersales price (which supposedly included shipping) was too good to pass up.

for people that may be interested the valves for the S2 rim look like this as supplied
The diameter of the valve where it goes through the rim is 8mm ish and as such the standard rubber valve will not fit!

Thanks, bob - that is exactly what I needed. I can't believe how complicated this little project of mine is turning out to be! Who knew switching wheels would be so much brain damage. (Well, lots of you probably knew... but I don't hold it against you)

FYI I did find some valves available in the UK but with option to deliver to the US

I assume the washer is removable to make them "universal" cheap enough at $30.00 a set of 4

I'm finding that most valve stems are made to fit 0.453" hole (11.5 mm) or .625 (16 mm). Why oh why does everything on this car have to be bespoke

I'll keep looking for 8mm (~ 0.3 ")

I'm wondering if I couldn't bring a wheel to a local tire place - it's possible they'd have a lot of options there for not much $$

This is exactly (judging of course by the cap!) what the stems on on my S2 wheels look like. I had never considered they were any thing special though, since I was not the one who procured them.
