It may not look this way in person, but the way the grill is cut out around the light doesn't look as finished as your normal work. Please don't take it as criticism. All of the work you've done in the past looks so perfect, nnobody would ever guess it's DIY. The sort of unfinished look of the edges of the grill around the light makes this the first thing I've ever seen that you've done that looks DIY.

Again, don't take it as criticism, rather that you've set the standard so high.

Because of your rear end  and your bubbles   you are one of the few folks here I would credit with the ability to mount those fog lights in the fibreglass, instead of in the intercooler opening, and have the finished product look like factory. I do like it though. I've been thinking of mounting small round lights in the same place. It's nice to see how it would look.

Actually I hate the grilles I want to make nicer ones once i fix the minor imperfections in the front bumper and get it resprayed

I knew you would. I'm sure it will look perfect when all is done.

[quote="Specky"]I don't care what the rest say...That's not bad for a white Elan

Hmmm. But I bought the Elan because I liked it...

I like the way it looks (including the rear) and the way it handles. Sure it's not perfect, but at what point does it cease being an Elan if you do all this? Maybe it would be better to buy something else? :-)

Marie,

looks like the black plastic shielding is cracked/missing from the last turn of your throttle cable under the "D" of the DOHC intake body--I believe Lotus sells these for cheap as chips -- grab 1 or 2 if yours is wearing out there.

Yep. I know. Its been on the list for awhile but just hasn't been to high on the priority list. I've been budgetting what I spend when it comes to the car lately seeing as I don't get to see it as much flying all the time.

Between flying, working at the club, polishing aluminum and cutting and welding stainless steel, I managed to finish my 3 year old project. A carbon rear upper tie bar. Pointless as making one from carbon may be, something about it just screams the lotus philosophy.

Well I finally got around to redoing the exhaust. More like I had to because I need to smog my car. She is now equiped with a 2 1/2" twin silenced, full stainless, with a cat, turbo back system. All I can say is that was alot of work. Respect for the guys at Piper as I now know what they went through to mock up a prototype. Pics to come when I get to a real computer.

Hi Marie,
With the front of your car needing attention and your love of Carbon Fibre, how about a
one piece front end that flips forward for accessing the engine bay.
Yes I realise the chassis would need to be strengthened, but think of the visual and
aerodynamic changes you could make !!
This would be a true challenge for your undoubted abilities.
Regards
Jim
PS
I am not saying there's anything wrong with your front end. It looks just great to me.

I was thinking about it but I'm just going to keep the front OEM and repair the bad bodywork from the original owner. My last major bodywork project will be a hardtop. After that, get the car painted, finish my rear brake upgrade, finish off the last of the interior and she's done. She's a totally different animal from when I got her 7 years ago but still recognizable as an Elan...... Albeit a more agressive, modern and IMHO sexier Elan.
