When removing the wheel well plastic - does that just pop off? I've never done that sort of thing.

There are a few retaining screws and bolts to remove. In the UK, these are a real bugger to remove and some will require a Dremel (which is why I changed mine to deeaitch's stainless) but you might find them a lot easier in your climate.

For a minute I thought you meant you switched the wheel well plastic over to stainless steel.

Sorry guys, this thread is confusing for me. I saw "rip" and "gary" both posting that they have the headlamp rebuild kit. Can't seem to jump in the thread to communicate with them. I need a set to repair my RHS headlamp motor. The gear has given way. I live in Singapore so do quote me a price if you intend to release the repair kit. Thanks !

http://www.rodneydickman.com/n21.html

Includes all the parts (except the gear itself, which apparently isn't ever the issue)

Glad you said that! - I'm stuck on getting the screw undone under the car (behind the wheel). Can you recommend how you would go about removing this and then having a way to secure the cover afterward?

I think I cut a slot in the head and got a big screwdriver on it - I wasn't too worried about damaging it though. Easy enough to source a replacement though.

I rebuilt my offside headlamp lift motor this afternoon. The 3 bearing thingies had turned to brown sugar crystals. The Nitroman advice to get the 6 mm well nuts paid
off, I needed 2 so thanks to him. The only problem I had was not being careful enough when retracting the motor brushes, one spring made an escape bid. I was very lucky to
find something so small. I found that using fishing line to retain them in place worked very well and once the motor is back but not tightened it pulls out very easily.
I used a little silicon grease on all the moving parts and on the holding bolts for the wheelarch liner. All the advice found in these threads was most appreciated.

Well, last year when my pax side light was acting up, I ordered a kit for it. Trouble is, I'm lazy. I saw a pax side rebuilt motor on ebay and bought it for about $40. Swapping out motors is really easy.

Now I'm having the same problem with my driver's side. Again, I was lazy and bought another rebuilt motor on ebay. As it turns out, a Firebird motor is the same motor, but the mountings are different, so I can't use it. I explained the problem to the seller and he made me an offer. I am sending him back the Firebird motor, and sending my old pax side motor with it. In exchange for the Firebird motor, he is going to rebuild my old pax side motor and reverse it so it will go on the driver's side. That way I don't have to live without one for any amount of time.

I didn't know that was possible, but apparently it is. That's really why I posted this. I don't know the actual process, but if you need a replacement, and can only find one for the wrong side, you can change which side it goes on. Just an interesting bit of info.

Also, I will have a left side motor (in need of rebuilding) and rebuild kit available if anybody needs it.
Chris
