I have just seen your comment, I thought that surferphil had a more curved back panel mould? I don't just make the pods and the flat panel, I also do one with a recess as well. I have just been a little busy on other projects to put any in the for sale section, but they can be made if required.

Chris, I was unaware that you had made a complete 1 piece panel with the recess, I'm not sure if you publicised this or whether I simply missed it (always a possibility). I like the design very much (although I like the recess for the Lotus badge in Marie's design) and it seems we are spoilt for choice (a good situation) with the one Phil has made (not aware this is available as a production Item to purchase at present), Marie's offer to produce a ROW panel and yours.

The question I find myself asking is whether or not the market is sufficient for this number of different panels, for those of us this side of the Atlantic something home produced has certain attractions given the current exchange rate and the additional costs of shipping with associated taxes and import charges.

I will PM Marie as she has to take a view given that this is her project.

I haven't made too much fuss on having the different types of panels, in the past several people have approached me for panels and pods so I haven't advertised, I have not spoken to Phil about his panel but didn't want to tread on his toes if he was making them. Your right though there is a limited number of Elans out there, so a limited market, its more of a hobby for me to make them in any case.

We both like the one above. We where not to keen at first but it looks loads better with the recess. Are you planing on painting it blue or is it staying black? I'm not sure i can get my head around it being palacio to match our own. A & M

The normal route would be to paint it body colour, but you could paint it any colour you like and a contrast might suit.

As this one is for my car, at the moment I think I will keep it satin black to contrast the car, I have had the blue one on for the past 4 or 5 years so fancy a change, you could of course spray them any colour you liked as I have etch primered all the ones I have made.

Hi all. I've been thinking about this alot lately. I'm sorry to say that I will not be continuing to do a ROW valance run. I may still do a one off but no more than that. I just don't think I'll have the time to do another mould and seeing as there are alternative options that will save on import duty... It may not be economically feasible as far as getting the required amount of orders and just the bloody size of the thing.

The panel is designed just to take the Elise series 2 Lights, (just to keep things simple) and currently costs £280

I am pleased to say that I finally have a mould for my rear pannel!
I was horribly let down 18 months ago after 6 months of broken promises from by my previous mould maker, I finally said I wanted my money back.
He then threatend to break my legs if I tried to get my money back. Dave Pink paid him a visit and I got my money back, but alas my original model had been destroyed.

I have re built a model for the panel and finished to a high standard, whilst restoring a few Elans doing a full time job and spending time with my little boy. The first pannel goes to Dave who has been so patient, supportive and helpful (if he's about this Sunday).

I have a supply of Lotus Harness connectors which will fit the Elan and the Lotus 'Monza' Lights, so no need to cut your wiring up! Just plug in my Harness adapter to your M100 one end and the Elise light the other.

My Carbon fiber prototype will be offered for sale in the coming week, to raise some cash for this project and a batch of 20 standard pannels are in production.
I never asked anyone for a deposit and resisted the temptation to start a list until I had a mould ready to go, as I know how these things can work out.

I spoke to Chris a few years ago just after I built my first model and cleared that he wasn't going to produce his pannel for sale, so thanks to Chris for not treading on my toes and making his a big sale item on the forum. My old thread was all about LEC discussion of what lights LEC members wanted on their car and the consensus was Elise S2 Bulb/LED units. I hope you like my work and I shall put a proper package together to offer to LEC members with prices and options I think people would like.

I bought and fitted Chris P's valance recently but as I'm not completely computer literate have not yet posted pictures of the "finished article".

Given that the sprayed paint match by a local bodyshop (calypso red : not "pink") is "superb" (in my estimation) if surferphill's valance is half as good as Chris P's then it will look the dog's ************, especially as he is providing an electrical "plug in" connection (for those, like me, who have no understanding of electrics and think that if a light swith is left on, with no bulb in the pendant, the electric leaks out!!

BTW when I do, eventually, post pictures these will show, not only the rear valance conversion, but also Simon (SPC)'s hardtop and roll bars.

And I will be about on Sunday, with my spraygun all filled up with Colapso paint, ready to go!

(I'd prefer to use Pacific Blue, but it was so long ago that i asked for it that it was when we only had the red one, and Angie still wants it!)

Still, if i can find another set of Elise lights at a similar price to the bargain set i got at Donny many, many, many years ago (sorry Phill, that was my last dig ), then i might get a second panel.

Phil, glad to hear that you`ve manage to get the ball rolling on this project as i know you`ve had a busy schedule. I`m sure this will be another great upgrade for members
